Atheists and agnostics generally began on their path by encountering doubt about their faith, and were thus prompted to read and learn about it.

Not taking sides at all, but the responses from the Athiests & Agnostics have been right on point.
There are some fringe God haters out there who ,in my opinion are as bad as the kneejerk religious person who has not taken the time to think through what they say they believe.
Any open exchange of views is healthy.
Personally an agnostic by what I consider to be thoughtful choice, though I had a religious education.
A person does not have to be a believer to be loving , have a conscience, or be compassionate.
Main thing is to agree to disagree on the subject of faith.
It is not worth one drop of blood to argue the point as is happening between faiths.
Best regards

The word 'atheist' should not be capitalized. this is a Greek word which means (a)-without, (theist)-god/desses. It explains a POV...it fairly is not a faith. IE: i'm an atheist yet I actual do not accept as true with something that azzhole Trump says or does. So, who is conscious what instruments somebody off and makes them offended? they could merely be 'trolling around' or it may desire to be that somebody certainly is in a bad temper and somebody writes some thing that extra advantageous pi55es them off. And this is complicated to not advance the previous that's so full of the horrors Christians of a few sect or yet another have committed against others.

Many religious people are religious because they think they should be. They were raised that way so they keep doing it. It's hard to have an interesting and passionate conversation with someone like that.
Atheists are almost always atheists because they've thought about religion a lot. They have ideas on the subject and like sharing them.
I don't think it's odd at all that it works this way.

As a former Atheist, I doubted my religion, so I studied as much as I could about all of them.
I think that anyone (not only Atheists) who has studied religions can talk about them non-judgementally. Some of my best religious conversations have been with a Catholic friend.

im catholic, and when baptists or methodists get around me they tend to knock me and eachother. personaly i dont care what they believe, but atheists dont have religion and can stay neutral on religion, see all the sides and put their 2 cents in at the same time. reiligious people tend to get bent out of shape when they hear something that they feel is wrong, or different then what they believe.

I'm an atheist. My best friend is an active Pentacostal. Our conversations don't concern religion, as he's an educated man of science who enjoys my company.

Cos generally we're open-minded and enjoy thinking.
Many of us have studied many religions for any number of reasons; almost everyone would agree that even just the psychology surrounding religion is interesting; e.g. why is it effective? why do some people take to it and or need it? why are others quite secure without it?

Many of us have actually studied the bible and alot of other religious texts. Most Christians only know stories and some verses. They follow whatever translation of the denomination they belong to.

Because someone who is Christian or catholic or whatever is going to stick with that philosophy no matter if it makes sense or not. someone who is atheist(and not always though) has considered alot of religions and already thought about the pros and cons, ups and downs, what makes sense and what doesn't.
