Matthew 5:17-18:

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

I don't know what you mean. The only relevant rules from the OT are the Ten Commandments, and even those were clarified by Christ.

Because the Law can not bring life, but only death.

Once you've broken a law, you remain guilty, period.

Think about driving through a light that is red, and in the process you cause a three-car pile up with 2 dead and 1 injured. How many red lights do you have to stop at before you are no longer guilty?

The Bible says that they that LIVE by the Law shall be JUDGED by the Law.

But remember also, that Paul asks, should we continue in sin because we are no longer under the Law, God forbid, NO!

Jesus satisfied the strict requirements of the Law, and thus introduced the new covenant that the book of Hebrews describes. (Can't quote the entire thing here, so please just read it for yourself.)

SOOO very much to say about this, but not nearly enough space. Suffice it to say that "the kingdom of God is not in what you eat or drink, and not in observations, such as days, weeks or months, but in peace and joy and righteousness in the Holy Spirit" (Forgive me, please, if I didn't quote this quite accurately. If I messed up the basic message of this passage, then I am wrong, but if the basic message from the actual text is still accurate, then don't "swallow a camel and strain at a fly".)

Additional comment: read Galatians, Ephesians and Romans, too. Especially Romans, as Paul builds a legal-type of case, demonstrating the fulfillment of the Law in Jesus.

Galatians 3:24,25- Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
VS.25- But after that faith is come we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

The law was given to the jews. The Gentiles was considered heathens back then.

Galatians 3:13- Christ hath redeemed us from the cruse of the law, being made a curse for us.
Romans 6:14- For sin shall not have dominion over you: For ye are not under the law, but under grace.

It's in the text. Everything was accomplished with Christ's sacrifice as he had perfectly fulfilled the Law during his life. No on else was capable of doing that.

right, Jesus didn't come to abolish the law as Christians claim, but of course they generally don't follow the rules of the new testament either, like turning the other cheek, and they bastardize the Bible when they try to justify the cheek verse.

Old testament is history. If you do not learn history, then you may repeat the mistakes that were made back then. New testament is the laws of Christianity. All the important commandments are repeated in the new testament in different words. Jesus came here to instruct the people and die for their sins.

Parallax - God was telling the scribes what to write down. He wrote everything in the Bible by way of people here on earth. He told them what to write.

Because everything is accomplished according to the bible. A blood was shed and so we no longer need to follow the old testament.

Basic problem with semantics : what EXACTLY did Christ mean by "the Law" ?

I just do not have the time to elaborate but do you realize that the O.T. has FOUR different types of laws?

I keep asking this, but I can't help myself. How did all these thousands of exact biblical quotes get saved, word for word, exactly as they were spoken??? Were there stenos assigned to all the important biblical personages, and told to write down every word? Were there biblical tape recorders? I would really like to know.

maybe because most people have come to their senses that killing animals on an alter, killing your children for not obeying you, and stoning adulterers and homos are not effective ways to run a society.

not to mention pork is the best damn tasting meat in the world.

Who says that we don't? The Old Testament is a big part of Christianity.
