Satan sent me to test your faith

First of all, this was in the Society and Culture section.

Second, I only answer questions directed at non-believers. And I often find that for some odd reason, questions of evolution are constantly asked in that section. Misinformation at that level should be addressed.

There is a fundamental difference between an athiest and a Christian. There are strong feelings on both sides, so you should assume that neither is likely to give any ground. Ideally, both sides could learn more about each other rather than focus on their own point of view.

I agree these debates often devolve into name-calling, but there are genuine questions that should be asked.

Surely spirituality is not religion?

I have spurned organised religion as it is responsible - ie at the root of most committed atrocities, and mainly paternalistic. Where is the 'God / Goddess / Represented Godhead' when war, famine, rape & disaster takes place - looking the other way until we 'learn our lesson?'

I do, however, feel a great sense of spirituality and compassion towards my fellow spirit - human or animal. I do not need to be told how to feel and experience this - to ensure that I always 'iestram fac' (latin if you need some doctrine) i.e. do the right thing.

That is loaded with fail on so many levels.

1.) This is the appropriate subject title to discuss such things.

2.) The intended purpose of Yahoo Answers is to ask questions, and get answers. You clearly have not posed any question, but rather a series of statements which you never intended (or care) anyone to respond to.

Edit: Enaronia, you are totally wrong in what you are saying, please look up the definitions of agnosticism and atheism.

Spirituality includes Atheism. Spirituality is not only for believers. I know that whenever christians see either "religion" or "spirituality" they think it is their property, but that is only because they don't know the meaning of the words.

The spelling of the word is "atheist." It is derived from Greek, "theos" meaning "god or gods." Notice the position of the "e." To make the plural of this noun, simply add "s." to the end.

When you have exhibited some more familiarity with the English language, perhaps then you can wrestle with such complex issues as "What is a public forum?".

pull my finger:"Amen! We don't want any non-believers sharing their opinions in this open forum. This open forum is for Christians only."

3 posts down from the top, getting 5 thumbs up.

I like how this suddenly changed from 'non-religious' people should stay out, too "non-CHRISTIANS" should stay out.

Atheists have just as much of a right to be here as you do.

If you don't like the criticism you get here, then by all means, don't come here.

Personally, i come here when i have nothing better to do.

Atheism is the rejection of religion. That means it is ABOUT religion. So this is the place to talk about it. And this question gets asked like 50 times a day. Are you guys really that insecure that you can't take criticism?

Here are my standard answers to this most common of all Y!A questions:

1. To met girls.
2. For the beer.
3. For fun.
4. Because I love those little hotdogs in barbeque sauce.

Or maybe it is because this is not a Christian site or a Muslim site or a Scientologist site. It is a site for everybody who is interesting in this topic.

Sheeshhh
