You can drive in any state with a valid US drivers license (ie: a license from any state).
When you move, you have to relinquish your current license and get a new one from the new state. Usually you will need proof that you LIVE there: paystub with address on it, utility bill, etc. You should NOT have to re-take the test.

HI BR,
In California you can drive on your Hawaiian drivers' license for 30 days, then you go in to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and turn in your old one, they will exchange it for your California license. In most cases, that's all you'll have to do, besides pay for it, but if you have a lot of moving violations you may have to take the California written test.
By the way, Californians do not say "Cali, " for California.

You can drive anywhere in the US with any state license. If you move to CA then you will have to retake the test because there are different rule for each state. You should be able to pass because they give you a booklet to read that will help with anything that you need to know.
You will just want to make sure that you have insurance that will cover the car that you are driving also. It is illegal to drive in CA without insurance and if pulled over they will ask for it.

You can still drive in California but if you move there you will have to get a California state ID as well as California tags for your car. You shouldn't have to re-take the test just re-new your license. Good luck. Enjoy your trip!

States recognize driver licenses from other states. So you can drive. But if you move to a different state you will have to take that state's test for a new license.

If you visit you won't have to do anything with the license, but if you move you have to take their test and register your car
