If you don't read the rest of it, the QUICK VERSION is there are two differing stories in an accident & I don't know if I should place a claim with my insurance or not. Would that hurt my side of the claim in anyway.

Someone from oncoming traffic hit my vehicle when she was trying to take a left turn (across my traffic that was moving forward.

I do not know if a police report was filed, I was not cited & at the scene of the accident the police stated that they believed that she would likely have the claim against her, not me.

Now she's lying to her insurance co. stating she had a green arrow & I had a red light (as opposed to me having a green light, her traffic having a green light & her left turn lane having no green light -meaning yield to oncoming traffic).

I have liability only & I get the feeling that writing a claim on the accident is only me crying to them. If my insurance thought I did it, they would have contacted me by now.

I trust no one in insurance business

I'm not in the insurance biz, but the insurance lady above is right. Of course your insurance carrier wants to hear from you that it is not your fault so they won't have to pay the claim. You are obligated to report this to them, and they are going to find out anyway.

Your insurance company does not know they need to call you until a claim is filed. The police department does not file claims. Only you or the other driver file claims.

Since the other driver is saying she had the right of way - you need to go ahead and call your company. Even though you do not have collision coverage - by turning in the claim now - your insurance company can do a better investigation into the loss.

" i trust no one in the insurance business"- thanks man. THat makes all the work i do every day to make my insured (like you) happy so worthwhile (notice the sarcasm)

Dont you realize that they cant protect you if they dont know about this accident? Her insurance company is going to send the bill for repairs to her vehicle to your company (since they think you are at fault).

Do you not want your insurance company to know your side of the story? Do you just want them to pay the bill? Or do you want them to protect you like you pay them to do?

If they dont hear your side of the story they may just put you at fault and then raise your rates... dont you want to be the first one to tell them what happened?

If you dont trust your own insurance carrier.. you have serious issues. They work their butt of everyday to protect their insured. If you dont think this is true.. Maybe you should consider changing companies. If there is any insurance you should trust.. its your own.

What do you think they have big meetings everyday on how to screw over their insured? I sware.. some people think the whole world is out to get them.
