What is your denomination, if any, and does your church specifically have a ministry for helping the poor, or orphans, or widows in need, or the needy in general?

Yeah I know about Roman Catholic "ministries", like indulgences, hording gold, putting gold on idols, and tormenting the sick and needy like Mother Teresa did. Please force your beliefs again.

nohome, the Bible says we Christians who are saved are predestined, your verse does not contradict predestination and no verse will since the Bible teaches predestination. Furthermore, your verse made no sense to reference, since it does not say that anyone can choose to be saved in the way God commands without God changing their heart.

And jay, that faith comes from God. I hope you aren't arguing over words, over expressions. If something is understood, leave it alone, no need to complicate anything right?

spiritroaming, hypocrite, when will you stop trolling me and breaking yahoo's rules and bashing your opinions, you slanderer? Why are you defending the saint's-blood drunken whore when you say you've left the Catholic Church, and when doing so in their eyes makes you a traitor on your way to Hell? Shoo!

I was raised baptist, but am now non-denominational. My church does have a ministry targeted to help those in need. On Mondays and Wednesday is feeding day, thanks to our local FoodBank. If a member is ever going through any financial difficulty, like not being able to make a utility payment, we will provide a voucher to cover the expense. Whenever any member should have a loved one sick, we assist with prayer visitations, and medical payments, if needed. We visit hospitals, nursing homes, and mentor at our local Big Brother/Big Sister program. We do the best we can with few resources, and if we can reach only one soul, it is all worth it! Be blessed, friend.

Pardon...the doctrine of "predestination" is not quite correct.. i'm sorry to have to report this...but this scripture was talking about when born again christians become "born" God, predestins them to be part of the family...this does not mean that our lives have been "planned out" and we have no say so in the matter...this would contridict the purpose of our wills and the "whosoever will" of the bible, because it would then be a "predestined thing.....and if so, then we would already be assigned to one place or the other, just waiting and living our lives out to the end..and would not be responsible for the outcome of them.....do you understand? bye.....

Believe, repent, and obey."

We must:

believe and trust in Christ (John 3:16);

repent and be baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost for the remission of sins (Matthew 28:19, John 3:3-5, Acts 2:38);

obey the will of the Father and keep the commandments (Matthew 7:21, Matthew 19:16-19);

eat the Body of Christ (John 6:51-69) -- but not unworthily, and only after discerning the Lord's Body lest we eat damnation onto ourselves (I Corinthians 11:23-30);

judge ourselves (1 Corinthians 11:28-31) and, when we fall, confess our sins to those to whom Christ has given the authority to forgive sins in His Name, and to obey that authority when it comes to what is bound and loosed (Matthew 9:5-8, Matthew 18:18, John 20:21-23, 2 Corinthians 5:18);

love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:30-31).

i hate them wiccas too. im in a penacostal church because they believe in the gifts. I personally believe (not because a church told me) that you are saved by grace because God can do anything he wants too. I am involved personally with my church with helping feed the poor. We also have a missions group that go and plant water pumps all over the world for the poor so they are not drinking polluted water. What has the wicca done?

Wow, who is the hypocrite here?

You know NOTHING about the Catholic ministries..........absolutely nothing.

I don't know who the Wiccan hypocrite is, but that person has a right to answer your pathetic question.

I think I will "troll you" as you say spiritroaming and cashelmara are doing.

You have a great ignorance in Catholicism.

I am a spiritual Christian, so I haven't any church or minister and as far as hell is concerned it is reserved only for those who reject Jesus Christ. But as far as being saved by Grace alone, it is by faith in the Grace that we are saved.

My belief is simple. I am wiccan...."do as thy will, harm thee none." Practical, simple, sensible.

Predestintion by defenition would bare the equivalent weight as "fate." It goes hand in hand.

Hell in hebrew is translated as "eternal sleep." Many religious beliefs are born out of "word of mouth." The bible is a great novel in my opinion, but anything deemed "eternal" is merely unproven and speculative.

In regards to helping people, you should do what you can, when you can, but keep in mind, life is a constant cycling and recyling.....there must be balance in personal life and in the universe.

I believe that we are saved by grace through faith. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.

I do NOT believe that we are predestined, because Jesus cried out, "If any man is thirsty, come to me" and "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOEVER believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

God cried out, "Please choose Life that you may live!" (Jesus said "I am Life"). and again, "I do not take pleasure in the death of the wicked" and finally, God said that He does not want ANY to perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I DO believe that there is a future hell for those who refuse God's offer to rescue them from their sins, from death, and ultimately from hell and the grave.

We minister to the needy in our community, as well as sending support to missionaries around the world as well.

I belong to an Assembly of God church.
