No. I don't take life for granted, no matter how bad things are looking. They might even find some groundbreaking cure the day after you committed suicide. Plus I'd want to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible.

Yes, it would matter! We, did not give ourselves life...we do not have the right to take our lives. It is a teaching of Islam that anyone who commits suicide will find themselves in the Hellfire...continuously committing the act of suicide.

What if you had a morphine induced dream that was in fact the cure for cancer but because you'd already taking a killing dose you were too far gone to share the cure with the rest of the world...would it matter then?

Thy shall not kill! I think that covers suicide.
Jesus is still in the miracle working business. This act may be premature. He knows whats best for us.
We seem to think we know what's best for our lives! If we did we would not get sick, let alone die!
Everyone has a purpose!
Do they know where they are going for eternity? The grave is not the end my friend. It's only the beginning of judgment or paradise, depending on which God they chose in this life to serve.

Picture this: you commit suicide and the next day they announce a cure.

That would depend on where you would be spending eternity when you die. There are a lot of people with cancer who choose to suffer rather than take their own life. God values life and we should also.

I don't think so. My wife's doctor had terminal brain cancer and ended up shooting himself to spare his family a lot of pain. He was Catholic and they believe suicide is a sin, but the priest who did his funeral said that God forgave him.
I don't think suicide is a sin at all, but if you're Catholic and go by their rules, and a priest says you're forgiven, then I'd say it was okay.

to God it does.
We will all eventually die, death is assured in this life.
Does that mean we should commit suicide now, since the inevitable will come anyways?

I don't think it would. I have had family members that died of cancer but they never chose suicide. I thank them for that.
