As you seen again this weekend a lot of good cars were taken out by a car on the inside, one or more laps down?
I've noticed in other forms of racing that only the start is double file. From then on you start in the position you were in when the caution came out.
If I was a Nascar driver it would make me very mad to haft to pass the same cars two or three times. While your fooling around with these slower cars the leaders get away or one of the slower cars wrecks and you get involved in it. I know I'm going to get a lot of "That's the way it's always been".
But that doesn't make it right or fair!
I've seen a lot of good cars finish badly becouse of this rule!

I know that Nascar goes to a single file restart within 10 to go. But on a lot of these tracks, 10 laps some of which may be caution laps, just doesn't help!!!
If you want double file restarts put the even or odd number positioned cars inside depending on which is the preferred groove!
Good racing!
Think about it?

Sorry Ray Y, I forgot to mention that I'm over 50 and have been watching Nascar since the early eighties.

Double file, okay, but putting the lapped cars up front never made sense to me. In WoO they go to the back, which is a bit harsh. I'd prefer that they remain in the same relative positions that they held before the caution. Just because there's a beer can on the track, why reshuffle everything in any direction?

I don't like the "lucky dog" either. Is it a race they're having, or some sort of video game?

Leave the rules alone. They are fine just the way they are.
And here's the reason for it. Lets say you have a fast car
but a flat put you a lap down, if you're starting in the lead
on the inside then you have a much better chance to get
your lap back. If you have to start in the back of the pack,
then you might just as well forget about it. It give a break
to the good cars that had some bad luck.

I think thats how its always been and I think that the lap cars start their so they can try and get their lap back which usually doesnt happen. Anyhow, I think that its just a chance you take with being with the lap cars but you have to have faith that they will be smart and not make a mistake and take you out. I also believe that the drivers try to pass those cars as quickly as possible and you can pass the leader easily if they get caught up in lap traffic instead of clean air, and definitely can benefit you. Soo their are definitely goods and bads to this rule but its just something that you got to deal wiht.

I hate the way NASCAR keeps changing things, but it has always seemed ridiculous to allow lapped cars on the inside of the leaders. Especially now that they have the Lucky Dog rule. I wouldn;t mind it as bad if the cars are on the outside, that makes a little more sense... but still. At least at road courses, the leader of the race has the option of which lane the lead lappers start on.

This is the way it is and should stay. Listen you kids need to leave the rules alone. You don't have a clue how it is and should stay.
About the first time your star is a lap down and has to start in the back of the leaders you will want to change it again. Grow up and accept the rules.
The drivers do!!!!!!

I hate the double file restarts but unfortunately those are the rules. Those lap cars cause a lot of wrecks.

I agree. Double file starts were there to allow a very fast car that got a lap down to race the leaders for the lap back. Since we have the lucky dog I see no good reason for double file starts and many good reasons for single file.

I think they should restart every caution the same way they they start the beginning of the race and not lap cars beside the lead lap cars.

I think they are ridiculous!!!
I dont think they should allow them to restart like that.....especially with the lucky dog spot!!! they end up just getting in the way & it's a big mess!!!

GO HARVICK & RCR!!!!

there are more arguments for the single file restart, but if you were the lap down guy would you want the second row???
