Take 600-800 mg ibuprofen (3-4 advil/motrin) every 4 -6 hours. Its probably the best type of pain relief you can get without a prescription, unless you live somewhere like Canada where tylenol with codeine can be sold OTC.

I don't know what your hospital ERs are like, but you could always go there and get pain killers, I just don't know how expensive it would be, or what they do for people without insurance or the ability to pay.

Finally, I would look into a few other options to get it taken care of. I would look to see if there's any way you could get insurance, if its due to being unemployed, see if you can apply for some type of state assisted medical. Secondly, you can try calling some dentists and explain your situation, and see if any would be willing to work on a sliding fee scale, to help you out with the cost.

Realistically, you need to do something NOW, or else a severe infection can cause massive problems.

Your best bet is to just have it pulled, which is cheaper than a root canal.

You could later have restorative dental work done to put an implant to replace the lost tooth.

There are free government dental services. I was just at the court house and the city had free dental services available. Check your local government services on the Internet. In the meantime, most drug stores have some drops to help with tooth pain as over-the-counter medicine.
