I have to reply to this one. I was married, had two great children, thought I had it all. AN done day I was alone. No husband. Eventually I remarried, better guy, couldn't be happier if I tried, except, he has never had kids. So now I am up at night wanting In-Vitro done. I love this guy, and he is the greatest dad. Yet, there is still a missing piece. He deserves children, and I can't. If you can do with out, don't. And if you can, at least get the Tubal that allows for reversal. I was clipped and burned. Totally permanent. I will pray for your family.

I am 23 and 2 girls ages 7 and 5 also have custody of a 14 year old. My fiance has a girl(8) and a boy that's(7) from a previous relationship and we are talking about more.I'm not Christian or anything like that but I was on b/c for 41/2 years and I found out that the b/c can cause you to have a miscarriage if you do conceive while on it and you would not no anything about it. So I quit using it and have went to the natural family planning method. Anyways the way I look at it is if it was meant for your tubes to be tied then god would stop you from having babies. I don't think that surgery should be used for that purpose. LIKE THE OLD SAYING IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!! I mean god forbid if something was to happen to one of the kids you have now, what would you do if you decided to have another one later on. do what feels right to you. If the inner you is saying HHMMMMMM MAYBE, THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD WAIT... GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING!!!!!

Well being someone who had their tubes tied during a c-section with my second child I would definitely say talk to your husband about getting the surgery or use some other forms of b/c. I didn't fair too well after mine. When it was time for my periods and during I would be in really bad pain and nothing seemed to help ease it. I eventually had to have a hysterectomy. My mom experienced the same things after her tubal ligation also. Really it is up to you but I would get some information and talk to others who have had one done. I hope I have helped.

I would use a long term birth control, like an IUD, for now. There is almost 0% failure rate, and its easy to remove if you change your minds, or God forbid you divorce and remarry and want kids with a new spouse. If after a few years you decision to not have anymore kids still feels right, have your husband get a vasectomy. Its a less invasive procedure and has a lower failure rate than a tubal ligation. Good luck!

I would use contraceptives until you feel comfortable with the decision to get you tubes tied. After I had my third my doctor wanted me to get my tubes tied. Because I was on bed rest with all three of my kids and I just couldn't do it. Since then I've had three more kids and none where high risk pregnancies and each time doc. said get tubes tied but I didn't feel at ease with the decision until after my sixth child and I got my tubes tied. Boy was my mom happy! I'm not saying go and have more kids either.lol!

I think its normal to feel that way, you're never 100% sure your family is complete. I also think you'll be hard pressed to find a doctor that will tie your tubes at your age, you are young. Also, getting your tubes tied is surgery and you'll have to go under general anesthesia. Any chance your husband would consider a vasectomy? Good luck!!

Getting your tubes tied I think is a fairly invasive procedure. Requires general anesthesia and is not a particularly effective type of birth control. See the link below from the National Library of Medicine. You should talk with your husband about a vasectomy

I would suggest sending your husband in to get a little 'snip snip' instead. It is just a quick procedure for him and a much bigger deal for you. Also, his can be reversible (not guaranteed).
