I'm interested in subscribing to a magazine about food and cooking but I'm not sure which one is a good choice. I'd like one with a good amount of recipes for everything from main dishes to baking. I prefer more simple and practical recipes and ideas than elegant and difficult. I don't even know what magazines are out there, so any information about what magazines people do and don't like would be helpful!

rachael rays magazine "everyday" is filled with recipes that are easy to prepare plus hints and suggestions. there's usually a few recipes that are considered elagant just in case you wanted to splurge.

with the suggestions you have gotten, i think the best thing for you to do is check them out at your local store. you can flip through them and see which one more suits you and your needs.

food and wine is a great informative magazines. it has great recipes. most easy to follow and not too fancy (some are but the majority are not). it has places in america and across other parts of the world, too. the subscription was pretty cheap I'm thinking less than $15.

Here are my choices:

1. Taste of Home
2. Cooking Light
3. Vegetarian Times (for a little variety)
4. Bon Appetit
5. and those little mini-cookbooks they have near the check out counter! What a god-send!

I agree with the others...

Everyday with Rachel Ray is probably what you are looking for - there are a ton of recipes per issue.

Paula Dean is great too, but she is partial to southern cooking.
