using MLA writing style- which dictates that you must have you last name with page number 1/2 inch from the top of the right hand side of the page. I can not get it any higher than 1 inch- even though I adjusted the margins for the top of the page to 1/2 inch.... I don't know what to do- HELP!!

When I go to View and then Header, it will insert an area for me to type a header, but no matter what I do- it still is an inch from the top of the page, not the 1/2 inch that I need- Thanks though for the suggestion!

find the 'header and footer' option...it allows u to add page numbers and dates, write titles/topics of ur assignment, and ur name...but remember this option u choose will appear on every page of ur essay--so whatever u wrote on the header and/or footer, it will appear on every single page...the page# will of course increase as u progress ... good luck

go to File then click Page Setup. adjust the number of inches for the margins, Header and Footer until it's right.
