The reason for the Motrin and the antibiotic is because they are the best combination for the symptoms you are presenting.
What you need to do is get the problems fixed, not add to it with more drugs.
Yes, you are overdosing on Motrin and the thanks you will eventually get is an ulcer. An ulcer is a hole in the stomach lining that causes you more pain than you could dream of.
Complaining about the pain meds will fall on deaf ears, getting the teeth fixed/extracted is your only and best solution

First using all captials is shouting and that is considered rude on the Intenet.

Second Motrin is like asprin and Vicodin is Hydrocodone and that is like Morphine. The two drugs are miles apart in pain relief, safety, and effictiveness.

The maximum dosage of Motin you can take in one day is 1000 mg, but that high of dose can cause stomach problems (I know I have been at that dose).

Clearly, you need to go back to the dentist's office and tell then you need a perscription for Vicodin because the Motrin is not covering it. Better yet, call them and have the Dentist's office phone in a refill order on your old perscription of Vicodin to your pharamist so you can go there and get it without having to make an extra trip or getting a new perscription.

Motrin is NOT a blood thinnner, only asprin does that; by crushing the blood platelets. That is what makes Motrin so much safer; it is often called Ranger Candy because it is perscribed so often for minor injuries and sprains. A normal pulled tooth would only require motrin, but the infection is complicating matters and that may call for vicodin. However, you are only going to get a week's prescription, you shouldn't need any more than that. Vicodin is addictive and long term use will cause you problems.

If you took the antibiotics for ten days and the pain still didn't subside, you should have gone back at that time for a stronger antibiotic... pain meds will not get rid of the infection that now may be out of control.

Go to another dentist and have a new xray taken of the tooth that's bothering you.... you'll probably be given a stronger antibiotic, maybe some pain meds, and be asked to make an appointment for either root canal treatment or to have the tooth extracted.

Best of luck~

go to the emergency room and explain that the Motrin doesn't work and that you are in horrible pain. They should give you an Rx for vicodin, at least enough so that you will have a few days to find another dentist who takes it seriously when you say that you are in pain. I am so sorry!! I know that it hurts tremendously. I have had so much dental pain as well and have also had to deal with unfeeling dentist.

Motrin is not a blood thinner. It is a pain reliever & anti-inflammatory. It is really difficult to over dose on it.

If you are still in pain, call them & ask them for help. They can also check your chart to see that the previous doctor had recommended Vicodin- he should also remember that he was going to give this to you. Ask them very sweetly for help & stay calm. If you get angry at them, they won't want to help you. Also, try putting an ice pack on your jaw to help relieve the pain.
Hope you feel better soon.

Can you call the original dentist and tell them how much pain you are in? Generally, if you let them know, I dont think they will let you suffer.

If the dentist doesn't want to prescribe Vicodin, it's either because they don't feel it's necessary or they smell a junky. I can tell you this much: if you seem like you want it too badly, they won't give it to you.

Get off the crack. Why would you need pain killers after 4 weeks?
