My mother in law was hateful to me and said really outrageous and hurtful thing about me and to me, so I can believe it can be that bad.
Although you have lost respect for her, try not to hate her. She probably is a silly bigoted old fool, but she is your grandmother and I'm sure she loves you, She just doesn't think about the impact her words are having on you and its probably said out of some warped protectiveness of her little boy (your dad).
Next time she says something try saying 'I'd rather you didnt talk about my mum like that'. If she carries on and makes a scene leave quietly and go home. Dont have a stand up argument with her. Hopefully next time you go she'll have got the message. If not do the same again till she does.

seriously hun take a deep breath and remember shes your gran at the end of the day, everyone annoys us at times, especially close family members, think of all the good times you have had with her and all the times she has been there for you, trust me you will miss her when she is gone, and I'd hate you to have to carry the thought that you two argued and fell out before you got the chance to make up, it's not as easy as you might think and when she is gone if you didn't make up you can't go back and say sorry, just breathe and try and keep things calm with her, for your sakes sweetie. x

Dont get involved in your mums and grans business. You probably dont know the full story. If you feel so bad, keep away from your grans altogether.

maybe just tell her how hurt you feel for your mum,and that although you love her if it was a choice between her and your mum it would be your mum as you love her unconditionaly.maybe this will make her realise what she is about to lose.good luck lol

Dont do it! you harbour bad feeings for your gran because of your mum ..whice is natural..there is no law to say you have to like her...Dont see her again..it is as easy as that. But dont get into a slanging match with a sick old lady you will never forgive yourself...if you dont regret it at the time you will one day....good luck
