The reason I am asking is because I just sent a Thank You note to one of the managers I had an interview with earlier.

I still need to meet with one other person before they make a decision.

In my letter, I stated 'I look forward to proceeding with the hiring process'. I already sent it via email! I am thinking I should have said 'interview process'. Is there a difference?

There are two processes here. You just went through one portion of the interview process. You may or may not have to interview with another manager before you get to the "hiring process." I think you jumped the gun here, but maybe they'll consider it confidence, and not assumptive.

There is a difference. The interview process is when you are still going for interviews to get the job. The hiring process is when you have the job and now you have to go for all the physicals, drug tests, orientation, fill out the paperwork stuff. But don't despair. If I were looking at you as a candidate for a job, I would be impressed and intrigued by your confidence that you would be proceeding on to the hiring process. There is a lot to be said for confidence and self-promotion in the job market.

From what I know interview process is a part of the hiring procedure.

The hiring process involves:
* initial screening based on resume submitted
* series of interviews (by Human Resources, requesting Manager, Higher Management, etc.)
* written exam (usually series of IQ tests)
* physical medical exams
* job offer/orientation

Thus, what you wrote in your letter was appropriate.

There is nothing wrong with what you said. You are hoping to be hired and that makes it clear.

There is a difference, but if I rec'd that note, I would just think you want the job, not that you think you have already been hired.

Good luck, hope you get it.

I would say the hiring process starts once you've been told you got the job. But this is very subtle. Best of luck!
