Frappuccinos are usually blended drinks with a coffee mix of some sort. Macchiatos are shots of espresso, splash of milk, and a dollop of foam (similar to a capuccino).

The definitions are as follows:

Frappuccino: A concoction developed by Starbucks, basically an iced or chilled cappuccino.

Macchiato: Espresso with just a dollop of steamed milk on top

So in essence one a Frappuccino is a cold coffee based drink while a Macchiato is a hot coffee based drink.

Hope that helps.

Based on what is served at Starbucks: Frappuccinos are blended iced drinks, like a shlushie...can either be coffee or creme based. Macchiatos are hot drinks made with steamed milk and shots of espresso poured on top (as opposed to lattes where the milk is poured AFTER the espresso is in the cup). You can have an iced macchiato (i prefer them) but they aren't blended like the frapp.
