I was sleepy. They sedated me and took 4 wisdom teeth. No harm no foul.

No, getting a tooth pulled doesn't hurt. Its after the tooth is pulled that you may experience some discomfort. It all depends on how difficult of a time the dentist has getting the tooth out. Before the dentist even starts to pull the tooth,
he / she will numb the site where the tooth is. Once you're good to go the dentist will gently start to try and maneuver the tooth to loosen it up. Depending on the location of the tooth, you might be able to hear it breaking loose from your jaw, but you won't feel it. When its all done the doctor will pack the hole where your tooth was with gauze. If you're worried about pain, ask the dentist to prescribe a pain medication.
After that you're home free...Piece of cake...Good luck!!

You'll feel tugging and pressure. Having a wisdom tooth taken out isn't quite the same thing as having a tooth somewhere else in the mouth extracted. I had a six-year molar pulled after repeated attempts to restore it failed. It wasn't painful but unpleasant. I had to get a couple of stitches put in afterwards.

i had a wisdon tooth pulled out nearly a month ago, not that it hurts as much but there is plenty discomfort...
the pain comes in after, then your head starts to throb, so my advice to you would be to have a good breakfast before you do, and on your way to the dentist get some god pain killers to take after your ordeal...
mouth wash, nothing too hot or too cold for the 1st day and you're on your way to recovery :-)
PS, that was my third tooth and i lived to tell the tale... i bet you will to! Good luck!!

The only thing you feel before your tooth gets pulled is the Novocaine. Than you don't feel anything until the Novocaine wears off. Than depending on your level of toughness you'll be in excruciating pain and you will need some Tylenol or other pain medication.

Just been to the dentist today to have a root removed. Didn't feel any pain as the dentist numbed it up. I felt pressure but it wasn't sore. A little tender now that the anasthetic has worn off, but paracetamol is helping. I'm sure it won't hurt and it's bound to be much more pleasant than toothache!!

You won't feel it (until later) if you have enough novacaine.
The tooth is obviously being pulled for a reason, so it will feel better in the long run.

My mom has had lots of teeth pulled and she says it doesn't hurt. At least not compared to the pain she was in before she got them out. I've had root canals and lots of other work and they didn't hurt for me. I'll also be getting some teeth out on thursday hopefully. Don't worry about it. It shouldn't take very long and any pain should be minimal.

Yes. You don't feel it when they do it initially because you're sedated, but once you wake up it hurts. It's a dull yet severe ache where the tooth used to be and your face will be swollen for a while.

For me, my mouth was really crooked. So when they finally disided to pull some teeth out, all they did was wiggle it once and it just poped out. It's not really painful at all. Nothing to worry about.
