We always hear about Muslim women covering up and I think most people know there is mention of covering in the Bible also.

So what do you think? Should a woman cover herself? How and why?

Thank you.

Gal from - I'm interested in rules about women because I am one and I have a daughter. I don't want "rules" forced on us. Do you? Mostly though, I like hearing opinions and beliefs.

the only time I see a woman having to cover up according to scripture is if they are taking the lead in a situation that is designated by God as men's position like taking the lead in the congregation but no qualified males are present then woman can do the public praying or discussing scriptures over others who are baptized but must be wearing a head scarf.

other than that scarfs are optional. I am inclinded to think that muslim beliefs (not being muslim I dont know but what I have been hearing and reading) woman are considered vile tempters who caused man's downfall and must be suppressed as much as possible. that the role of preventing men from sinning lies in her lap and that if a man succumbs to temptation it is her fault, why do you suppose she gets stoned and he gets a mild prison sentence for fornication or even rape? so much for the idea that man is superior in strength. if he was so superior don't you think he could resist temptation of a woman wearing regular clothes walking down the street? no he is afraid of his own weaknesses otherwise why make so much out of one's garb provided privates are coverd?

It is shifting blame, if you read the bible account eve blamed the serpent, adam blamed her and subsequently blamed God when he said the woman whom you gave me. no adam was fully responsible, and so was eve. they are putting the responsility for man's actions squarely on her,

so we all wonder why everyone wants to blame someone else for the harm their own wrongdoing causes themselves. it started right in that garden, and teh tendency to shift blame has been here ever since.

In my church, some women do cover their heads with a chapel veil. But that hasn't been required for years, and most women don't wear hats, scarves or veils to church anymore. I have a friend from another Christian denomination who always keeps her hair covered with a special cap. If a woman wishes to cover her head, that's her business, but I don't think it should be a requirement. It's a choice that should be left up to the individual woman in question, and never forced upon her by any man, or any church.

Jesus Christ based the Catholic Church, and on the final Supper Jesus in my view customary the Catholic ministerial priesthood, and gave the Church the definitive sacrifice of the recent Covenant, alongside with the fundamental liturgy of the holy Mass, in his own physique and blood. each and all of the others who popped up lots, lots later, alongside with the baptists and each and all of the erroneous heretics that Chris mentions, invented an entire new style of religion, finished with novel new teachings, per no longer something, and with out authority from God in any respect. it is not basically a be counted of a distinctive kind worship ... that's a controversy of somewhat understanding the God you declare to worship ... or no longer. Jesus not at all based any Church different than the Catholic Church, and he not at all authorized the different man or woman or group do accomplish that, the two.

Both men and women should dress modestly.
We should try to dress in a way that glorifies God and looks pleasing to other people.
We should (man or woman) try to dress so that we don't provoke sexual thoughts in others by not paying attention to how we are dressed.
Husbands and wives should check with each other, and single people should be subject to elders, parents ect.

as one of my high school teachers put it, she should do enough to "cover the subject" The dress of a woman or man for that matter varies by situation.

I would say that should be her decision completely. If she wants to run naked and free (and is in a stable state of mind to make that decision) then go for it.
If she wants to walk around mummified in cloths and blankets so no one can see her at all, she should have the freedom to do so.

covering to me means that she is submitted to her husband or her pastor and in accountablity to them before she prophecies or does things in the ministry realm. Hats and scarves are good I like them.........Just feels a little wierd to wear them when nobody else does plus, it flattens my hairdo!
LOL

Why are you interested in rules for women?

A woman should dress modestly. No cleavage, no pants that show her buttocks, no immodest dresses that show too much leg, no skin tight clothing.
