Now all you people are hurting the "pros" argument. You know they love to insist they only do jobs Americans don't want. You know they all insist they only work in the fields picking apples for $2 an hour. Why do you all have to bring this out into the open?? I'm only being sarcastic.
But truthfully, I think it's disgusting that hard working American citizens are losing jobs or are competing with illegal aliens that shouldn't even be in our country in the first place. Many times it could be a second job they are taking that means the difference between living comfortably and struggling to pay the bills. I know many people that HAVE to work 2 jobs to make ends meet.
Going to school and getting a skill does not always help when companies would PREFER to hire an illegal because it saves them lots of money. Why should they hire an American at decent wages and provide benefits when they can hire an illegal and pay them much less (even below minimum wage) with no benefits.
v dig...you know you are saying something they can't handle because they know it's the truth...violations are the norm here for "antis".
The law is not on their side. Most of America is not on their side. Every country has immigration laws. They have no case.
Even the "race card" is bogus because an illegal alien is not a race.

my question is why can't mexican immigrants come here LEGALLY? Sure, the quality of life might seem better, but that doesn't make it ok for them to illegally cross the boarder to live here. There are many reasons why illegal immigrants aren't welcome. Most take jobs from people who are legally here, some don't pay taxes, they don't have social security numbers which you need if you want to live in the US legally. You need a SSN for basically everything; jobs, drivers licenses, credit cards, bank accounts, etc. It's just a totally different system than Mexico. the US makes it hard for illegal immigrants to get paid and licenses because they are illegal!! They are breaking the LAW. It's not fair to American citizens to have their jobs taken away from them because an illegal immigrant will do the same work for less and then don't have to pay taxes, or have taxes taken out of their pay. I'm not saying that this is the goal of all illegal immigrants, but that is the impression set upon the US, and is usually the case.

About 20 years ago I applied for a job, during the interview I was asked if I was bilingual and told them no. They offered me the job, I accepted. Three days later they called me in the office and told me it wasn't working because everyone in the plant only spoke spanish.
Few things about this, 1st they knew I was not bilingual, so why did they hire me?
Second, at the time I lived and partied with these same people that said they did not know English. Guess what? Yep, they spoke English, but to the employer they said didn't.
Send them back to where they came.

Not at all! You have a valid point and a valid question. You've been set aside while others are happy to work for less. I shouldn't blame the entire situation on illegal immigrants, however. Those that hire illegals to make more money for themselves are very much to blame for what has happened to the trades. I wish you better luck in the future!

My husband did along with every man he worked with at Ivy steel & wire. The work we did find paid allot less and now many of us are collecting food stamps in order to get by.
The factory here closed and moved to Hazleton, PA. I hope that Hazleton succeeds in passing their laws to get rid of the illegals and Ivy gets stuck hiring Americans again, in fact I hope they are forced to pay Americans more then they ever paid the men here.

Well, be afraid, be very afraid! This is just the start! I'm a 2nd Generation Mexican American! I could see being effected by this in the future too. So, what do I do? I go to school. Degree's cannot guarantee job security either! Lower wages and pride and effort in a job will! :( So, basicly it depends if your employer is greedy or not!

I dont think this has nothing to do with illegal immigrants...I used to be an administrative assitant for a construction office and had many plp there working there illegaly and they were not getting paid no $8-$10hr..something more like $18-$23
so IDK maybe its the companies or the sate you are in....
