I personally joined the Army at 22, which is still older than the average recruit... I have seen older join as well... there is no problem doing so... when you're ready is when you're ready... as long as you can handle the physical and mental aspects and you are under the maximum age requirement, it is not 'too late'....

I dont think the age cutoff is 27 I had a friend who enlisted at 30.
At 25 you should be fine, in fact you should be better than 18 year olds muscle maturity wise. The only difference between you and an 18 year old is maybe you dont have a hardon 18 hours a day.
As a man your "peaking" between 25-35 in my opinion.

Finding that info on the USMC site has eluded me. But I am trying to kill a few minutes. According to about.com it's 28 with age waivers for prior service up to 32. They will add 1 year to each year prior active service up to 32. The Army is 59. I could have re-upped 5 years ago and still got in 20 in the reserve. I don't think they want to hear my squeeky bones trying to run though.

The Marines cutoff age is 27. They don't figuire anyone older than that can handle bootcamp.
Go too 'thefew.com" to have any other questions answered.
Note: Just found out age now is 29 w/o prior service. But there are waivers for about anything.

As long as you can handle the physical aspects of boot camp, I don't see why at 25 you can't join the armed forces. And bless you for wanting to do so.

Definitely not.
The highest age is 28 without a waiver for prior service...
I know this because I'm 28 and I'm enlisting this week! :) Everyone I've talked to seems to think that my maturity level will be much more of a help than a hurt.
Good luck!!!

No it is not too late. You have the whole world in front of you and infinite options. Go talk to each of the service recruiters and tell them what you want to do with your life. Ask them how their service can help make that happen. I admire your determination. Good luck!
