I'm excited for Junior, because he's made a decision to "do what he's gotta do" Things are too stuffy at DEI for him, and he needed a clean break. He runs hard and DEI can't build a good enough "ride" for him. The technicians at HMS must be some high class mechanics, and i'ld like to know what they know. 2008 is going to "unleash the beast" in Dale Junior. He may not be the best, but he should've been in the chase. That dude can drive and he has all the connections. Thank Mark Martin, he desrves a high five for everything he contributes to the sport, and DEI.

I first thought it would be stupid but when I found out that the number 88 was actually his grandfathers number i got over it. Plus the number 88 has more starts and finishes than 8.

I don't really care what number he is driving if he can't have the 8 or didn't want to drive for Childress yet to drive the 3. As long as he is away from DEI and going to a company that has stayed up with research, he'll do just fine.

I have a tatoo that says "Dale 88" from 5 years ago. I'm just stoked that it's going to be cool again.

Strange how lately a lot of these clowns are siding with Hendrick Motor Sports- to pamper a nobody- who hasn't won a race in 2 years...who could we be speaking of?

That is NOT a good move. The number 88 was assigned to a hurdles racer named Darrin Thebes in the 2002 Pan Am games. He blew out his Achilles heel at the second obstacle. And in the match race between Larerette and Low-rider at Belmont in NY, Low-rider turned in a time of 8 min 8.8 sec in a losing effort. that number is just unlucky, I guess.

Its just a number---Nothing new or special about it for him. Lets see Ricky Rudd used it so did, Bobby Allison--Darrell Waltrip--Dale Jarrett--Buck Baker and others.
