The groom is Jesus Christ...the wedding..is the end of time..the bride is Christians. Some are ready filled with the oil (Holy Spirit)...some have let their oil burn down..and are not ready for the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Its a metaphor (figurative language -- )

It's a parable, people. A story told to illustrate the point. The 10 virgins were guests at the wedding. At this time period, a wedding involved a procession that went through town gathering people as it went. This is a story about a popular wedding that gathered alot of people and took a long time through town. The families of the couple would have been first to be picked up by the procession, then the friends. The 10 virgins would have been friends, and single ones at that , so they would have been last on the list. The fact that half of them did not plan ahead was grossly irresponsible, but none of them were actually getting married that day.

No. They were all bridesmaids, whose task it was to accompany the groom to the house of the bride in joyful procession. This was something which took place at night, hence the need for lamps.
