I've heard a lot of good and bad about the flatline but now I have a 98 and want to know if it would be the best choice for accuracy. Is there any other way to improve accuracy on a 98 other than really expensive stuff like HPA?

I already bought the tippmann, and I have a spyder too.

the flatline for the 98 is better than the flatline for the a5 but the apex barrel is better and the apex is a little cheaper

Everyone I've talked to that has used the flatline or apex has complained about the accuracy, and a 98 won't really shoot any more accurately on HPA. Try getting a front bolt like the shocktech superfly or similar, there are quite a few different bolts available now. The stock front bolt doesn't fit the power tube very well, allowing gas to escape backwards into the marker instead of propelling the paintball when you fire, which costs you quite a bit of accuracy. Any front bolt that fits tighter will do, you can find info on some of them at pbreview.com. A quality barrel will help too, and you can try an expansion chamber as well. Most of the front bolts are fairly cheap.

I have heard more bad than good about the flatline barrels, but then again most of my friends don't like Tippmans. I have seen them on the field and they have never impressed me. Unless your into scenario games, where the mods available to the tippmanns make it the standard buy, I'd recremend getting a spyder.

If you love your marker and don't want to get something else, then I would recremend getting the flatline. Otherwise, get a better gun.

Flatlines are very tempermental you must use a little bit higher grade of paint and most people dont understand that and are never told. So they use crap paint and are unhappy but if you turn the marker side ways and shoot its wips so you must be careful. Another alternative would be try a barrel such as the cp 14" one peice they work pretty well or the 2peice.. plenty of alternatives!
