I have these yellow dish washing gloves. I use to wash my dishes because I like to use really hot water. When I'm using them my cat looks at me. When I'm finnished I put them on the sink to dry. She jumps up there and plays with it she tears it to shreds. She plays with it like its the best think in the world. She lays on it and rubbs it on her face. When i take it away from her it's like tug of war. I throw it away she goes and graps the other one I have left.

I think it's cute but I always wondered why cats go nuts over such things? Thanks

I have numerous toys for my cat to play with, but she prefers to tear and shred paper or rip up a plastic shopping bag.

The scent of the rubber gloves may be attracting her. It seems that they go for the odd smells.

Those gloves pick up the scents of food when you are washing the dishes ... the cat likes that scent' and tears up the gloves because it thinks there is food hidden inside. Eating rubber can kill a cat, though, so you really need to let your gloves dry in a cabinet with a door you can shut ... and buy some 'treats' you can give your cat to 'distract it' from your gloves ... and you can 'hide' those treats so your cat can 'hunt the treat out' ... try putting one under the corner of a towel, a rug, or a doily/ antimacassar ... you and your cat can then have 'fun together' instead of you needing to get out a new pair of gloves every few days.

I've asked myself the same question. My cat loves to play in the plastic bags when I go grocery shopping. He loves to rub his face all in them and hear the noise it makes. I think yours does it because the gloves are not really "toys" and she knows she will get attention for playing with them. It's the little things that make them happy :)

Who knows about cats and what they like or dislike to play with. She just likes to play with them. Another cat might not pay any attention to the gloves.
Cats are funny that way. They all have their own personal likes and dislikes. Kind of goes along with their own individual personalities like humans.

When she is rubbing her face on it she is marking it as her play toy and for you to keep your hands off it.

That is sooooo cute! I love your cat! I think your cat just loves the texture of rubber! Your cat likes the feeling of the rubber when she grinds her teeth on it. Let your cat play with them....it's cheaper for you than having to go and buy toys and it's so cute!
