All human life is precious, abortion is akin to murder. It destroys the life of another human being. Legalised abortion is an atrocious abuse of human rights. It is an undeniable scientific fact that human life begins at conception. Everything that makes us human is there from day one, nothing else needs to be added. The Catholic view is based on a profound respect for the value of human life from the moment of conception to the moment of death. This is common knowledge among Catholics as Catholic teaching.
ODE TO THE UNBORN BABY
While the ‘learned’ argue to and fro
you have no voice to speak
In places high, those who ‘know’
make decisions for the weak
You know nothing of the world outside
why should you be concerned?
In trust completely you abide
no evil have you learned
But alas, the world is full of error
if this you only knew
your trust would soon give way to terror
your fate held by so few
The powerful with one stroke of pen
your survival can determine
To live, to die - what’s it to them?
you might as well be vermin
Their position gives them this right
and the letters after their name
but will these honours bestowed by men
Just increase their eternal shame?
Comforting words and platitudes - -
“A woman’s right to choose”
to some, convenience may mean much more
than the life you soon could lose
Soothing ‘newspeak’ hides the truth - -
you’re - just a “blob of jelly”
you - deserve “no rights”, you - feel “no pain”
they told us on the telly
Yet all’s not lost, there is some light
I know that some do care
they plead for you by day and night
and in your sufferings share
They dare not rest, there is no time
there’s just too much to do - -
every day means more lives lost
and the next one could be you
But a time of justice will arrive
when the womb is safe once more
then love shall rule, and you shall live
of this you can be
sure

Catholics believe that from the moment of conception until natural death, each human being is endowed by God with dignity and rights.
You shall not kill. (Ex 20:13; cf. Deut 5:17)
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. (Jer 1:5; cf. Job 10:8-12; Ps 22:10-11)
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth. (Ps 139:15)
Early Church writings: You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. (Didache 2, 2: SCh 248, 148; cf. Ep. Barnabae 19, 5: PG 2, 777; Ad Diognetum 5, 6: PG 2, 1173; Tertullian, Apol. 9: PL 1, 319-320)
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2270 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art5.htm#2270
With love in Christ.

Catholics are not allowed to use birth control, therefore abortion is also not an option. Many Catholics do practice birth control privately, and pray for a pope who will come out of the dark ages into the light of the 21st century. These directives came about long ago simply to guarantee their religion's populace/existence into the future. Got to fill those collection envelopes you know. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school for nine years. Were you aware that you can 'buy' an annulment of your Catholic marriage? my father did- for $500. he got his nineteen year marriage to my mother annulled! three children were born of that marriage, so if the marriage never existed according to the catholic church, (in the eyes of God), then does that make the children 'illegitimate' to the church and in the eyes of God? my father hated that question and that question is the reason I am not a practicing catholic. I walk a spiritual path, I believe in my relationship with God, I just don't buy the 'dogma' of any religion anymore.

Well, if you are looking for Scripture, " Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you."
For the church's stance on abortion and Life...check out the text of the encyclical Humana Vitae...."on Human Life"
EWTN.COM has it in their library.

Yes, such actions are forbidden in the Decalogue (10 Commandments). It says that we are forbidden to murder lest we commit a mortal sin. How could one not think that it is murder? God bless! In Christ Fr. Joseph

the reason they dont allow it is because it is killing a human life and that if you do you are breaking one of the 10 commandments. the hard part is determining when EXACTLY it is considered a human being, such as the zygote, 4 months in the womb, when it comes out? ETC there is no true answer just your own beliefs.

I personally support a woman right to choose I believe it's something between a woman & her God. Although Roman Catholic I do have free will and use it.
