How are you funded? Primarily by voluntary donations from Jehovah's Witnesses. No collections are taken at our meetings, and members are not required to tithe. Clearly marked contribution boxes are provided in all meeting places for voluntary donations, which remain anonymous. Expenses are manageable, as there are no paid clergy and the meeting places are modest. ...It is a personal decision to donate, whether toward local expenses, worldwide expenses, or both. Financial reports are regularly given for the information of the entire congregation.

We donate what we can. No need to pass a collection plate so others can see; oh bro. Smith tossed a C note in the plate or sis. Jane only put in a $1. Christians are not under the Mosaic law which was put into place to support the priesthood. Please take note of 2Cor. 8:12, 9:7 As far as donation boxes being guarded at conventions... It would very irresponsible and careless to leave them unattended for obvious reasons. Reminds me of an incident that happened last year at a local church. A wedding taking place & someone sneaks in and steals wedding gifts; and money from the purses of the bride & bridesmaids. Need I say more?

Yes, I do know this.
Yes, with God's Spirit.

After many other reasons that I recognized
what they teach from the Holy Scriptures to be the truth;
I was attracted to this portion of the faith, bc it's
in line w/ what Jesus said,"you received freely, give freely,"
also the "widow, who gave (basically) 2 nickels."

As a matter of personal experience.
I live on a very fixed income.
And in my beginning of attending services
@ the Kingdom Hall;
I had no $ to give.
And when I did it was a very small amount,
no one knew if I had gave or not; or how much I did give.
(It's not attractive ~in the worldly sense~ to b poor.)
The 1st sister I studied w/ asked me once,
only 1 time, if I had made a donation.
Afterwards, I always gave something.
No matter how small.
I have an Entire Library, which I received FREE.
My children have their own Bibles*, song books, a study aid books geared specifically for young 1's, brochures, all FREE.
They also, made donations, on their own.

* they have the children's Bible, and then as they grew up,
they got the regular Bible...as in the NWT of the Holy Scriptures.

They might not pass the plate but in my experience this is an excellent ploy to get people to donate even more. As an ex JW I probably put more money in the dicrete little donations boxes than I ever would have done in any collection plate. Many of my brothers and sisters tithed, their choice of course and when we went to conventions there where very large collection boxes carefully guarded by brothers. It is a clever psychological trick to play on peoples conscience by telling them that there is no compunction to donate but then to remind them often about all the wonderful work they do in giving out 'free' literature and building third world kingdom halls. People are much more likely to donate generously if they feel that they don't have to. I know that I payed heavily for all that 'free' literature and books because I felt guilty if I didn't do so, if I didn't donate were would the money come from? I once worked out that if every JW in the world gave £1 per month then the organisation was raking in approx £80 million a year, that is without counting the donations from people studying and those taking the magazines. I can tell you that the majority of JW's in the Western world donate much, much more than £1 a month. What is this money spent on? True a small part is spent on producing literature and building kingdom halls, but bear in mind that none of the many elders, ministerial servants, pioneers etc, recieve a penny for their work. The reality is that the society spends huge amounts purchasing large buildings in America and building properties such as Beth Sarim. Do not be fooled into thinking that all the work is 'funded' by the Holy Spirit, it is most definately not.

Jehovah God needed us to apply his call. Matthew 6:9, Jesus advised us that we ought to continually pray: "Our Father interior the heavens, enable your call be SANCTIFIED." additionally Isaiah 40 3:10 additionally brings out that Jehovah stated, "you're my WITNESSES." God is a identify. inspite of Arabs. a stable dictionary will teach you, “Allah” is a shortened sort of the Arabic term meaning “the god", that's no longer a popularity. The identify “God” is neither own nor distinctive. interior the Hebrew Scriptures the comparable word (?Elo?him?) is utilized to Jehovah, the authentic God, and additionally to faux gods. The Imperial Bible-Dictionary says: “that is everywhere a appropriate call, denoting the non-public God and him basically; while Elohim partakes greater of the character of a uncomplicated noun, denoting often, certainly, yet no longer inevitably nor uniformly, the perfect. . . . The Hebrew could say the Elohim, the authentic God, in opposition to all fake gods; yet he in no way says the Jehovah, for Jehovah is the call of the authentic God basically. He says many times my God . . . ; yet in no way my Jehovah, for while he says my God, he skill Jehovah. He speaks of the God of Israel, yet in no way the Jehovah of Israel, for there is not any different Jehovah. He speaks of the living God, yet in no way the living Jehovah, for he can't conceive of Jehovah as different than living.” wish This helps

No, they have collection boxes throughout the hall in which members place their money in. They have plenty of money trust me. In fact, in 2001, they were on the top 40 list of highest grossing companies in New York at a 1 billion dollar profit.

That's right, we don't. And we don't say we will give so much a year and then not do so. There are boxes inside the door and we give whatever we can. Seldom are we in the red each month. We give freely of what we have.

I know of no other religion that has the giving spirit as Jehovah's Witnesses do.

Point of order, we do collect money, though as you point out we don't use the somewhat more invasive means of a plate, or as one sister once told me, a collection net.

Yes I did know that and as a Witness myself I try and put some in the donation box. I've been to my dad and my step-moms church. We only went three times---it was so weird and told them that we (my brother) won't go anymore. From what I saw they all passed the collection plates down the row and expected you to put your money in the plate. I definitley love how our Brothers and Sisters don't expect us to put money in donation box. I also love the sisters comments above. I love studing the new books that we get at the convention and when we get new magazines in the Hall. Its just so refreshing to read.

To Nea,
It also goes to the Kingdom Hall Rebuild fund, and to build an Apartment for our Circut overseer who come into town to give talks at the podium. Maybe you should ask one of our dear sisters or brothers at the local Kingdom Hall or ask the ones that already answered below or above!

Beliefs and Attitudes of Christendom:
God is a Trinity: "The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God." (The Catholic Encyclopedia, 1912 edition)

WHAT THE BIBLE REALLY SAYS:
The Bible says that Jehovah is greater than Jesus and is the God and head of Christ. The holy spirit is God's active force.

John 14:28 says: YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.

John 17:20 says: Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and YOUR Father and to my God and YOUR God.’”

1 Corinthians 11:1-3 says: But I want YOU to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God.

Matthew 3:11 says: I, for my part, baptize YOU with water because of YOUR repentance; but the one coming after me is stronger than I am, whose sandals I am not fit to take off. That one will baptize YOU people with holy spirit and with fire.

Luke 1:41 says: Well, as Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the infant in her womb leaped; and Elizabeth was filled with holy spirit,

Acts 2:4 says: and they all became filled with holy spirit and started to speak with different tongues, just as the spirit was granting them to make utterance.

Jehovah is greater than Jesus
Jesus is the Son of Jehovah
Again the holy spirit is Jehovah's active force.

From the Reasoning from the Scriptures

Is Jehovah in the "Old Testament Jesus Christ in the "New Testament"?
Matthew 4:10: "Jesus said to him: 'Go away, Satan! For it is written, "It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service."'" (Jesus was obviously not saying that he himself was to be worshipped.)

John 8:54: "Jesus answered [the Jews]: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my father that glorifies me, he who you say is your God.'" (The Hebrew Scriptures clearly identify Jehovah as the God that the Jews professed to worship. Jesus said, not that he himself was Jehovah, but that Jehovah was his Father. Jesus here made it very clear that he and his Father were distinct individuals.)

Ps. 110:1: "The utterance of Jehovah to my [David's] Lord is: 'Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.'" (At Matthew 22:41-45, Jesus explained that he himself was David's "Lord," referred to in this psalm. So Jesus is not Jehovah but is the one to whom Jehovah's words were here directed.)

Phil. 2:9-11: "For this very reason also God exalted him [Jesus Christ] to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground, and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. (Notice that Jesus Christ is here shown to be different from God the Father and subject to him.)

Do you honestly believe that every cent that is donated goes toward printing your literature and furthering the preaching work? Of all the money that gets donated and the fact that elders and co's and such do not get paid for their service to the congregations, it really makes me wonder where all that money goes.
