Why most people does'nt accept mistakes when they're getting older, does age can make right the wrong one's?

I just used to observed things like people who's older than me and those in the level of senior citizen does'nt accept mistake. They used to think and say that they are older. Even they are wrong they won't gonna accept the fact that they are wrong and even not a single word of sorry or simple apologize you will hear. My mother & my sister have the same attitude of that and my maid at home who's 58 yrs old now is having the same. It come's in my mind that, is age can make right the wrong? and are they not able to make mistakes even it's obviously they are? It's just annoying...because me as 31 yrs old, i know when i get older the younger one's have more better ideas than me therefore even in a simple things i might not be right all the time and i have to accept that fact though.I just can't believe if things really be like this...

Wisdom teaches you whats important, which usally amounts to keeping things stable. Problem happens that different people, espacially in our culture got different views on whats wise and whats not. This causes conflict on so many lines which has only increased with the changes that are taking place in our culture. So in alot of ways the young are getting wiser, but that doesn't always mean better off..... without a purpose to generally guide it all we can't really say whose the wiser....
