Ditheism and Magick are both in the Oxford English Dictionary. A Dictionary recognized by universties throughout the world.

Therefore anyone saying they aren't words is Kaput as far as getting best answer.

For a belief in a God and Goddess like found in Wicca I usually use the terms Duotheistic or "Soft" Polytheist. I use the second term for those who "acknowledge" the various Gods and Goddesses but consider them to be "aspects" of the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine as opposed to (for example) Hellenic Reconstructionists who are "Hard" Polytheists. What this means to the "Hard" Polytheist is that the Gods are all separate and distinct entities with distinct personalities, spheres of influences, likes, dislikes, etc. Each God has a different birth, different relationships with other Gods, and is never referred to generically on a regular basis.

This is different from a "Soft" Polytheistic or "Universalist" perspective in that one of the biggest problems with Universalism is that it takes Divine beings and turns Them into archetypes. Or worse, aspects of the human psyche. It's the only way it makes any sense in light of the diversity of the Gods. Hestia isn't the Hearth, but a representation of the Home and Familial Ties. Ares is not an armour-clad warrior, but the represntation of War and Anger. And so on, and so forth.

Traditional Wicca is polytheistic. There are a minimum of three very real gods in Gardner, including one he does not follow but very much believes exist.

It's polytheistic...more than one god.

Only the Frosts came up with this not polytheistic nonsense. And it's nonsense.

Edit: Soft polytheism, more accurately called monotheism, the belief that all gods are one, is antithetical to traditional Wicca. In fact, that was one reason Dion Fortune's Society of Inner Light was so vicious towards Wicca in the 1960s.

Well as far as the polytheism or ditheism part I think that most religions have a minimum of 3 gods/goddesses. and as far as Magick I dont think anyone really knows the difference which is sad. From what I have read and learned Magic is spells and stuff and Magick is the religious practices.

Asatru/Forn Sidr is hard polytheistic. We believe that the gods and goddesses are (mostly benign) separate superior individuals. We do not see them a fuzzy many in one type of god, or even a god/goddess combination.

I had an Asatru clergy tell me that Christianity is actually soft quintheistic (5 gods). They have 3 gods (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) combined in one for a soft polytheistic arrangement, and they have a Mother figure in Mary, and an evil god in Satan.

Since polytheism is defined as the doctrine of those who believe in more than one Deity, and ditheism is defined as the doctrine of those who maintain the existence of two gods, one good and one evil, I would have to say that the two are quite different and NOT interchangeable.

Note: Thank you for exposing me to a new word (at least new to me.) Even with a degree in Anthropology, and a fair number of philosophy and comparative study of religion courses, I have never run across the word "ditheism" in my studies. You learn something new everyday--and I love it. Thank you.

Ditheism is not a word, neither is your spelling of magic.
Or, alternately, only for you.
