Fully agree. and I wish i didnt! I struggled with trying to be a 'christian' until I was hearing that everything is predestined. So, if so, then God decided I was going to struggle to believe and accept some of the belief system, yet I may go to hell for fulfilling that same pre-destiny! Help! Gave up then and thought I'll live by my own deep morals that are the same compassionate standards anyway!

Nobody should ever say that god will abandon you, because it is NOT TRUE. to say otherwise is to lie by giving the impression that god is not love-which the Bible clearly says He is in 1John 4 v8,16. I think that to do so is almost certainly blasphemy.
However, there is no reason why reason would not ultimately lead you to God-if there can be scientists who believe in God, then the only reason your reason would prevent you from finding him is if you stop looking.
Even then, it doesn't mean He will stop trying to introduce Himself to you. Why would you be bothered enough to ask this question if you were/are completely happy with the idea of God's non-existence?
also, to adam-proof in science of what exactly?!

No, your powers or reason have nothing to do with it.
A protestant Christian perspective is that we all abandoned God to begin with... we have a sinful nature. We all deserve punishment because we all do wrong.
God, however, is merciful. That is, he treats us better than we deserve. He gives us second and third and... nth chances. If we truly comprehended how perfect he was, and how far from perfect we were, we'd wonder why he even allows us another heartbeat.
Those who turn their back on him willfully, and continuously snub his mercy will eventually face his justice.
There are people with high IQ, and strong reasoning powers that believe in God. Einstein, Bach, Kepler, Pascal, Napier, etc. are just a few.
Theology has lasted 6000 years, and includes many intelligent people who have a rationale for their faith.
Re: your added comments:
Deserve to be told? No.
Consider though, if someone, based on their observations, thought your house was on fire, would you 'deserve to be told'? Would you want to be told? The flip side: if a friend saw a great movie, and thought you should see it, would you 'deserve to be told'? Chrisitianity is a lot like that... Christians, based on their observations, believe there is a hell, and a heaven, and wishing the best for you, and everyone around, tell others.
Maybe your house, or your soul, is not in danger of any fire, but is it not at least worth investigating???

Okay your question is forgetting that God created you and if you honestly do not believe in him and have not been convienced then I fail to see how you could be abandoned. Now assuming that you have been told the truth about God and and Honestly have REJECTED his teachings and truely do NOT BELIEVE then you will have made a personal choice and we as Christians can pray that you will learn to accept God and Christ as your Savior and will be saved. That is the meaning of "saved" that you have accepted him and will NOT be forgotten. My friend you may have given up on God but he has NOT GIVEN up on YOU. Case in point any christian that responded to your question is him working through us to get to you.

this is like asking if you don't believe in santa claus will he still bring you a present. - of course he won't - but then he never did .
i'm glad to say that since i don't believe in the existence of a god , i don't have to worry about it - nor do you of course - you can let all this religious stuff pass you by and get on with enjoying your life - that is what it's about you know.
by the way - even if you do believe in santa claus he still won't bring you a present - go out and buy your own .

God doesnt tell you to trust in YOUR powers of reason, but to believe what HE says He actually DID on the Cross for you two thousand years ago. HE did it all, and all He asks YOU to do is to take Him at His Word.
God abandons no one. But you must come to Him on HIS terms. Without having the sin issue dealt with, and without receiving the Gift of righteousness that GOD PROVIDES thru the finished work of Christ, NO ONE can enter His presence. He is HOLY and we are NOT.
If you refuse His solution to your dilemma...it is YOU who have abandoned your ONLY hope. God did all He is going to do....YOUR reasonable RESPONSE should be to believe Him. It is NEVER a question of "CAN YOU?", but "WILL YOU?"...it is YOUR choice.

Ridiculous..
Let's presuppose the existence of a general Hidden Deity for a second - will call him Bob so as to not step on anyone's toes.
Let's say Bob's been a pretty lackadesical deity. Keeps pretty much to himself, acts like Aristotle's conception of God who sits and thinks more than acting.
So you show up. Bob (assuming Bob is reasonable) can only fault you with an error in judgement. "Abandonment" (implying that Bob would be offended by your decision in the first place and had an interest in saving you in the first place) would not be rational choice.

God's powers are greater than your powers, so just ask him to come into your life, ask this of him and he will let you know he is there, and that he is Lord over all,
you will see the nature he created in a whole different way

I think your rephrasing of the question makes it more interesting. You don't deserve to be told by a sinner (and they all are if you ask them, at least the protestants) that you're abandoned by God (Bob?), any more than a smoker deserves to be told he will get lung cancer and so will most of the second-hand smokers around him, any more than a meat eater deserves to be told he is horrible for eating meat by a leather-Topsider-wearing vegetarian (that would be me).
Glass houses.
