This just started. She uses the cat litter box most of the time, but occasionally pees in the wrong place. For example, on the carpet in the family room, on the bathroom bath mat, and on the sofa.

When a cat starts urinating outside the box, that is usually a clear signal of a problem. The first thing is to rule out a medical problem such as a urinary tract infection. The second thing is to figure out if you made changes in the litter box that has upset your cat. I have posted a link about litter box problems.

As for where she went, you need to make sure all scent of the urine is removed. You can do that with an enzyme cleaner such as Nature's Miracle, or use vinegar, and I have posted a link for that as the second source. If the scent is not removed, she will return to that spot over and over.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the possibility of a Urinary Tract Infection yet. If she has been using the litter box all along and just started peeing outside of the box, the *first* thing I would do is take her to a vet to rule out UTI. Most likely that is the problem.

If there has been a recent change that is stressing her out, the Feliway products do a good job of helping to calm cats. (I know Pet Smart sells the product.)

Please, rule out the UTI first. Cats are notorious for hiding pain. I'd hate to think she was in pain all of this time!

Not sure what you mean by inappropriate place but cats are usually attracted by scent to a place to urinate. If the cat is using places that are not right try placing multiple litter boxes in your house so there is always one close by. If that does not work take the cat to the vet. It may have a bladder problem that you don't know about and could be treated with medication.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

according to hazard flow your litterbox right into a room and get a puppy gate that has a small door super adequate for cats. Or, in the journey that your canine is small and that may not artwork, try getting a litterbox with a desirable on it and save it faraway from the place the canine oftentimes is or make a community the place it particularly is going to be the place your canine isn't allowed. If something the superb factor is to continuously examine and clean your litterbox. there is likewise a supplement i've got seen at puppy shops that announces to surrender stool ingesting, i'm assuming that is in basic terms the supplementations and minerals that your canine feels the want for and fills with the poop. and a few in basic terms like it because of the fact they are gross. proceed to tell her NO in a comfortable business enterprise voice, and coach her the drop it command.

I would take the cat to the vet. My cat who is 7 was doing this for some time, and it turns out she had a urinary tract infection. The vet put her on a diet specifically for that and the problem has gone away! Not a problem ever since.

This can be caused by a dirty litter box, stress from any life change (IMO, cats are not fond of change), or illness like a bladder infection. Have her checked by a vet.
