Everytime I go see a hairdresser she critisises my hair, so I blow dry them everyday, tie them up everyday, dye them black, they break easily, they always find something to say, Ohhhhhh you shouldnt do that ohhhhhh you shouldnt do this.. ARGH just cut my hair and STFU.

Mine try to be helpful and help you do the most with what you've got.

But I've been going to the same girls for many years. Maybe you should try a new one you can develop a relationship with. (One that doesn't make you want to wring their neck.)

Haha, yes. I think most hair stylists are kind of rude. Not all, though. I could understand if they see that you've got unhealthy hair and they SUGGEST you do a certain thing to help it out. They don't have to criticize you though. That's not a good way to keep customers. I can't seem to find a hair dresser that is nice. I've been searching for 2 years! Everyone I go to never asks me how I'm doing, they never talk to ME, but everyone else around them. I think that is so rude. I also hate the ones when you get an eyebrow wax and they lean on your face or they press on your eye really hard!

They never listen to you, either. The last time I went for a trim, I asked the lady to just get the split ends. I said it 3 times and she cut off 2 and a half inches! I know the split ends weren't THAT bad! I've got eyes! I was soooo upset.

I don't think they are catty and petty, they are women! I used to make appointments for a style and set. When I'd appear for my appointment, they'd ask me if I wanted my hair cut (I have longer hair), and my answer was to politely say: "No, my appointment is for a style and set, that what it should say on the appointment list" (They never seemd to read those little appointment thingees). I'd already had experiences with the "cutting" problem. If I said 1/2" trim, they cut of 1-1/2", so I stopped asking. Whats the solution to the problem??? GO A MALE HAIRDRESSER. Yuppers, a male hairdresser knows what men like in a womens' hair. When you ask them to trim 1/2" they trim 1/2" inch, they will talk to you about your style, they will give you the wash and style (and that head massage is pretty darned good as well). They very, very rarely will see a head of long hair and ask if you want a cut. (I'm talking about my experiences here - I don't know what the length of your hair is) - yes, they may be a little more expensive, but it's worth it in the long run. Men will tell you what you need to make your hair look better than good, just ask him. As for the women hairdressers, well, it's exactly the opposite. They know what they like in mens' hair, and they are very good at doing that job. I would ask for one certain style, and never say anything about being unsatisfied with the look, just went home and combed it out. It would never be anything like I asked for. Ask for a style like Jane Seymours' (LIKE being the keyword here - I know I'm not Jane Seymour, and I can't wear "exactly" the same style but I can wear something like it) and I'd go home with a miserable style that wasn't even near what I needed at that point.
YUP, the men hairdressers have everyone of my votes for loving womens' hair, caring for womens' hair, and doing what is needed to make you look good. Ladies don't do that with other ladies. Why? The answer to that is obvious. They ARE women! You know the parallel - Two girls fighting over the same guy - do you think your girlfriend is going to help you get the guy she's trying to get???? Not very likely. Now, in saying all this - I'm not saying that ALL female hairdressers are like this. There are a good batch of them out there somewhere, and I know they can do miracles, however, it's pretty hard to find them, and when you do find them, they may not even be in your city. But they are out there somewhere.
Stick with the Male Hairdressers, I still use em and they've been the best.
Hope this helps you in your search for someone who'll help you with your hair.

My hairdresser is a really sweet lady, she tells what to do and what not to do with my hair. She tells me nicely, and gives me tips at the same time. Ever since my first visit there, I never went anywhere else. I go there about once every 3 months, but she never fails to forget who I am and how my hair was like 3 months ago. She's great!

I love my new hairdresser and my hair. If she says I shouldn't do something or that I should do something I will listen to her. After all its her and not me who has spent a lifetime learning about hair.

I find women in general to be catty and petty. Not just hairdressers.

LOL. Yes I do find them to be petty and SOOO annoying, this is why I started getting my hair cut by a straight man last year. He is no gossipy, not into bs and spends the time cutting my hair NOT chewing my ear off and he ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS makes sure I leave the salon with my hair EXCATLY how I wanted it. Good luck.

They're just doing their job and telling you what you shouldn't do to your hair, Because it could ruin your hair. If you find them so catty and petty stop going to hairdressers, and do your hair yourself.

Honey that's their job. What good is it gonna do you if you just have to keep cutting off dead ends or if your hair keeps breaking off and splitting. She's trying to give you tips for better hair care. Sure, she could just shut up and do your hair but if you spent a lot of time fixing someone's hair just to have them not take care of it wouldn't you be frustrated? Let her help you keep your hair healthy.

I find them less catty towards me or my hair but more towards other people. I would never tell them a secret unless you want the whole town to know in a day.

Oh, no...mine rocks my world! I barely even have to tell her what to do...I'm just like, "I want it this length, and make it pretty," and I always wind up leaving looking gorgeous. She is the nicest person...and she brings her little Chihuahua to the salon, so you always have company when you're getting your hair done :)
