Did you fight it tooth and nail (whether you succeeded or not) or were you resigned to it?

Saw a pic of myself, and then decided to do a self-portrait. I was horrified. Then I sat down to think about it. "Why am I fat? What do my friends do that I don't? Hmmm... the only thing is... they talk about the gym..." And then I got into a towering rage because I realized that the only problem I had... was ME. -I- was in my own way; I had no excuse. And then I promptly spent the next year and a half dropping 82 pounds.

When I got in a car accident and had to have emergency surgery and could have been paralyzed. The doctor told me that I would likely have not been injured as badly if I was in shape. I looked at myself and saw the real me for the first time in a long time. I was a lot bigger than I realized. I dropped 60 pounds over the next 2 years, and am now the envy of my friends, and I look 10 years younger than I actually am.

Well, I started dieting at 10 years old, so it must have been then.

I am still morbidly obese after over 25 years of dieting, exercising, etc. Now I'm resigned to failing again and again and again. :(

When I saw a picture of myself. I had no idea I had gotten that big. I made a change then and there, and lost 40 pounds and have kept it off for 3 years and counting.

2 months ago.... i realized that i was fat..... i couldn't wear my old clothes.... but then i just decided to buy new ones and kick off some weight.....but my goal is not to be thin or sexy just on the safe side and on the realistic weight that is healthy i can manage to keep for lifetime. i realized that if we just eat right and not be on a diet fad and move a little bit more.... we can keep a healthy weight that lasts.

You know, sometimes you just can't deny it. There's also many people that are sooo willing to point it out to you. My doctor for one. Every visit ends with "Did you know that obesity is the number one preventable killer?" Okay, I get it: I'm fat!
