I am a 21 year old male and want to lose my stomach fat. I don't have a beer belly or anything just enough to make me self-conscious. What are some things that I can put in my diet to help out. Any exercise routines that would help would be great as well.

I am in the same boat you are, and I'm currently using a system that's re-educating me how to eat right. Each meal you have should have an even balance: it should be about 40% carbs, 40% protein and 20% fats. You should try to make sure that all your carbs come from natural, complex sources (potatoes, especially sweet potatoes, romaine lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, etc.). And yes, increase your exercise, especially your cardio. (You should be doing at least thirty minutes a day when not doing resistance training.)

Ab work is important to strengthen your muscles there like any other part of your body, but remember that the whole "spot reduction" thing is a myth. There's no such thing as one specific exercise that will give you that "magic six-pack." That only comes with the decrease of your entire bodyfat ratio. Most men tend to see results when they reach about 12% bodyfat or lower. (Right now, mine is about 47%, so I guess you can tell I have my work cut out for me.)

Most fitness centers will offer to do your BMI/bodyfat measurement for free if you're a member, so take advantage of that. It helps you get where you want to go, if you have some idea of where you are now. Good luck.

I think you start by eating less carbs- not eliminating just less than usual. You can also start by eating healthy carbs like wheat instead of white, brown rice intead of white rice. Also try to stay away from sweets. Sugar can make your stomach blow up too, even though it may seem harmless. Drink diet drinks instead of regular. When cooking or for coffee, Splenda Sugar is great because it doesn;t have that nasty aftertaste and it taste like real sugar.
For workout, I definitely recommend the Pilates Ab Sculpting. I know youre a guy, but my muscle head boyfriend does it too because he knows how effective it is. It targets the right muscles in only a fifteen or 2o minute period. The more you do the more you get used to it. Do this everyday for as long as you can and I can almost garauntee you will see results in a couple days. I had a belly and still kinda do, but its starting to get flatter than it was when I was at a lower weight and Ive only been doing it for 1 week. Goodluck to you.

I had the same problem. Not a really fat belly, but enough to worry about. I had a terrible time trying to get rid of it. Luckily, I ran across this free ebook which specifically answers questions regarding diet and exercises for belly fat. Download it here http://absfacts.com/pdf/training-nutrition-secrets.pdf

Stay away from process foods, if you're eating pasta go for the wholewheat variety, go for brown rice boiled, not fried. Eat lots of vegetable and fruits. For meat protein eat skinless chicken breast broiled. Here is a video with some abs exercises, its 8 minutes long. Enjoy:

Think about what you can contribute to your diet, not what we must take away. Integrate delicious veggies into your meal, rather than serving them privately. Not only will they offset the fat inside your chicken or meat, but the phytochemicals in fresh produce are which may prevent diseases.

People who plan their weekly meals tend to be more successful at losing weight than people who don’t. Plan your dishes to incorporate healthy carbs such as lovely potato and wholegrain pasta, greens and lean proteins, buy the many ingredients in advance and don’t be tempted to eat out or order in.

Suck it in. Consciously hold in and contract your ab muscles while you’re walking, sitting at your desk or making the an evening meal. This will help to strengthen your ab muscles and your core, and create for you one step closer to some sort of flatter stomach.

Beans, beans, are best for your heart, the more consumed the more you... lose excess weight actually. Super-effective and full connected with fibre, beans will regulate your appetite and slow down the rate at which the stomach empties, meaning you stay fuller for longer.

Eat goats cheese instead of regular cheese. It contains 40 % fewer calories than the cheese made from cow’s milk.
