i love meat and i love potatoes, and i find myself cooking the same meals day after day after day. i'd like to be able to come up with meals that still have meat and potatoes, but are cooked differently, with different recipes and different flavors. any ideas?

You can do so many things with potatoes - scalloped, au gratin, roasted, twice-baked, and mashed with anything from cheese to garlic to peppers. There's also hash, hash browns, or put them in stew.

Meat has as many varieties - roasts, burgers, stews, braised with cream soup or tomato-based sauce, grilled, marinated, barbequed, pan-seared, smothered... could go on and on.

Search www.foodtv.com for recipies.

You don't really tell us what you make day in and day out so here are a few suggestions: If you don't already have one, invest in a crockpot. You'll be able to make all kinds of 'meat & potatoes' kind of meals and you can also add pretty colored veggies that will taste you yummy once cooked (carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, etc.)

Make your favorite meatballs and place them in a large baking pan or casserole.

Slice potatoes and carrots, onions, celery and spread evenly over meatballs.

Dilute a large can of Golden Mushroom Soup and pour over all.

Cover and bake at 350 degrees F. for 1 hour or until veggies are tender. Salt/pepper to taste.

I also add bell peppers and mushrooms if I have them.

A favorite in our house when having beef is golden mashaed potao...just cook about 1/3 carots with the potatos and mash as you would normally. Everyone loves this dish!

Our family does a soup day every week if the weather is cool/cold. Also, a fish day twice a week, usually Wednesday and Friday.

We also have vegetarian meals occasionally.

I love red meat and my husband got sick of it so we switched to poultry and fish and only one red meat meal a week.

(Pizza doesn't count)

Try a month of organizing your cooking weekly, planning your menu out so you can see the variety and then try to stick to the plan.
