depending on the act that was committed keep your distance without any contact for awhile you will start to miss that person and will forgive them in your heart in time they will also realize there hurtful act and may want to reconcile with you and others. sometimes it just takes people time to realize the pain they have caused. its part of life no ones perfect. but we all have the capacity to forgive.

I don't send birthday cards ever really so no, I'm with the people I care about on their birthdays. Except for the ones that don't live nearby anyway, that's when I call them. Actions speak louder then words. I've never had a family member do any of that to me, hopefully never do, so I don't really know what I would do. I can tell you that "two wrongs don't make a right" is always a famous one. But a heavy heart isn't good. You should forgive, not that you have to forget, but you should always forgive. How is holding a grudge helping you? Really, think about it. Now I don't know what it is they stole from you, but, I would also be concerned as to why they felt they couldn't come to you for help. By no means am I saying it's your fault. Nobody should steal, it's just that family is a difficult situation. Were you close before? You should definatlely let them know how you feel. As to whether you should press charges? Well, that's going to be on you. Now depending on what this family member stole from you, you should look into the consequences of the law. Then not to mention, do you have proof. Now, with that being said, will the consequences for your family memeber make you feel guilty in the end? I would also, collect the debt though.

If you want to send them a birthday card, then by all means send them one. If you don't want to, then don't. If you are unable to send one that is nice and won't be a slam on them, then don't send one. No point in kicking them when they are down - they know they were wrong and feel guilty enough already. Probably just having a tough time facing you and apologizing for their bad behavior.
Do what feels right to you.

I would send them a card that said " don't forget to take the knife out of my back as I am sure you will need it again" then not have any contact with them again. Depending on what they stole I would file charges.. Just me tho..

A hard thing to do... but I think I would give it serious consideration. In the end you need to do what feels right. Also, don't do anything that you might later regret. Sometimes doing 'the right thing' is very difficult when in reality we just want to shout at them.

First try to know why did they do what they did. Then, try to get over it. Then yeah give them the card if the excuse is good and they diserve it.

The point of giving someone a gift is because you want to bless them. If you want to bless them then send it. If you don't, don't send it.

One of my family members did and I erased her from my life. I do not have any contact with her at all. My life is better without her in it. Just because she is related to me does not mean I have to put up with actions I would not put up with from anyone else.
Good Luck!

I've had something similar happen. Now my cousin is pregnant, and I want to send her a card, but I'm not going to. You screw me, you don't get my friendship.
