I am a rather dumb person. I dont mean that in a "im putting myself down" sort of way, i just am, and im ok w/ it i guess. I got ok grades in school (im 21 now), but i dont learn things that fast and i have NO common sense. if i am confronted with a problem, and i dont know the exact procedure to fix it, im screwed, 'cause the obvious answer will not come to me. i dont try to be dumb, i try really hard to be the opposite, and im really good at fooling ppl most of the time, but now i have this job where i cant hide it, i have to be smart, and not super smart, just normal smart, lol, and now im feeling like i dont fit in here... so my question is, what do i do? i need money, and a good amount of it. i cant go back to waitressing or some other minimum wage job, so what do stupid ppl do for a living?
...so dumb i cant tell when im rambling, lol, sorry!

Not saying that people in the creative field are stupid, BUT, I'm sure you have a talent. Not everyone is the same. Not everyone is fit for the job where you have to solve problems, like not everyone is fit to communicate creatively.

READ! anything and everything, novels, poetry, news, etc...and do logic building puzzles and games like crosswords, watch and read the news to stay current and learn about the world.
A good idea: when ever you come across something you don't quite understand like through out your day when reading! especially, or even when you're just watching tv (could be a word or a phrase or a place, a profesion, a person, a period in history, ANYTHING ) no matter how dumb or unimportant it may seem, if you don't understand it, look it up! Smart people love to know things! even little
things.
Also, you should keep a daily journal of some sort, if you don't already, write in it everyday when you can. Write about your day but don't just write about what happened analyze your day. That means don't just write WHAT happened but also WHY you think it happened, HOW you felt about certain events that day etc. try to be more abstract, try to find meaning in all the small things, be creative look beyond the surface of things shift your thinking from asking the what? of things to asking about the why?. The purpose of this is to make you THINK . Writing helps you focus your thoughts and ideas, writing makes you think, and thinking about anything is good it's thinking thats works out the brain and makes you smarter...

ok first of all I'm sure that your being just a little too hard on yourself! Being smart at a job isn't hard when you pay attention and try to just pick up on the skills needed from other people. I'm 21 and going through the same thing in a way(questioning if I'm stupid or smart). Your only dumb because you think you are...
but if you need a way to learn more about any and everything then i would try a SAT practice guide or something of that nature to help you learn a variety of things... besides that eat fish(brain food) lmao!

You aren't stupid. You have to tell yourself that you are NOT stupid. And if you can't believe that you aren't stupid then there isn't anyway to get rid of that reputation. In order to make someone believe something, you must believe in it yourself. Now the first thing you can start by doing is getting your test scores up. :) Study, study, and study some more. Do whatever it takes to know those answers and be prepared for it. Don't worry when you get like a not very good score. Take those bad scores as a learning experience that next time you'll try harder. And may I just give you a little advice here? When you don't get the best grades, I wouldn't tell people. It's none of the business to know and they will probably just take that opportunity to make fun of you. Although when you do get good scores you can tell them, but don't over do it and don't brag! You said you know all kinds of facts right? A very good way to sound smart is to tell them some of those facts. Every now and then tell them some, but if you over do it you might sound a bit nerdy. Also those questions they ask you like is a ton of bricks heavier or a ton of feathers? Those are just other ways for them to make fun of you. You have to out smart them...think of ways that will confuse. I know you'll think of something. Start turning those 59% into 99%! By the way the smart boy wont think you are a stupied bimbo and if he does maybe he isn't all that smart after all. But I doubt he will think that. Well, you might have a learning disability, which doesn't mean your Dumb..you just learn slower that others..alot of people have this problem there just not Bold enough to say it..I have a very simular problem where I had to take special classes and everyone made fun of me in grade school..but becouse of those classes im in college getting strait A's..so if anyone tries to call you dumb dont worry just be confident..

You are not stupid! Maybe you have a learning disorder. Don't beat yourself up. There are plenty of people in this world that will try to do that. You seem like a nice person that just has a hard time with things.
