no..it really doesn't matter..AS LONG AS THEY ARE BOTH ALTERED!!! then there won't be any bleeding (which femme cats always keep clean anyways, unlike dogs) nor will there be any tomcat spray..and last but certainly not least..there will not be more unwanted kittens in this world that only add to the already over burdened pet population.
3 to 4 MILLION kittens euthanized last year!

If you aren't gong to fix both the mother and the kitten you keep, I reccomend giving them all away to someone who will, including the mother..
Please spey and neuter.. I'm really not trying to be mean or judgmental here, but for every kitten your cat had, YOU have killed one cat or kitten in a animal shelter somewhere waiting for a home. See.. because YOU didn't have your cat fixed, that homeless cat won't find a home, and will be destroyed. How many kittens did your cat have? 5? Could you go to a shelter, and look 4 cats in the eye and say "I'm sorry you're going to be gassed next week.. See.. the person who might have adopted you, adopted my cat's kitten instead." Could you do that??
Really, I'm not trying to be mean or harsh, but I just want to make sure you understand the importance of not letting it happen again..
Spey and neuter.

We are now overrun with cats, from taking in strays. The cats that are best with other cats seems to be males that are castrated as soon as they show signs of male behavior, between 4 and 6 months. Castrated males are much more playful then the females for a much longer time.

Female cat do bleed but it is tiny small dots. We used to breed cats and I hated when the females were in season. If you keep a male get on one them fixed if not both. They will try to breed to each other, animal instincts you know!

sexi red head,
female cats do not bleed when they go into heat... that is dogs.
It doesn't really matter. I have a mother and son, and they get along great. Both are fixed.

Please get them both neutered, as there are so many cats that don't have homes already. It is better to have one male and one female, then they won't be so territorial.

It really doesn’t matter, but I hope for the sake of both you get them fixed. Check with your local shelters if cost is an issue. They may offer free or discounted program. Please don’t continue the cycle!
