This Saturday I have a birthday party planned at 9pm for me and a friend there will probably be 20 guests in a small apartment. There will probably be loud music and smoke and lots of people making lots of noise. I was supposed to pick up my new 2 month old Pug that day, I should probably wait until Sunday right? Yes, I know this may be a stupid question.

Wow, the people in the Dog Forum are soooooo much nicer than the people in the politics forum lol! Well, considering I used up my "ask the audience" lifeline and 100% said don't do it! I'm going to wait until Sunday thanks to the one who said wait until the house is cleaned up I didn't think of that but my maid will come on Monday now. God bless all of you who responded!

Yes please wait the poor dog will be freaked out enough by the new surroundings and being away from it's mom you don't need to add loud noise and alot of people to the mix. Wait and pick up your puppy after the party is over and everything is cleaned up.

It may be best to wait. I know I've read several times that people shouldn't give puppies or kittens on Christmas Day- they should wait till after the holidays are over because there's just too much activity for the little guys to handle in a new home. Good luck with the Pug- they are soooooo cute!

I would either post pone the party or wait until Sunday to pick up your new Pug. You will want one-on-one time with your new baby. There will be too many people wanting to hold and pass around your puppy and with all of the smoke, noise, music, etc., he will be frightened not to mention he may get dropped, plus all of the smoke is harmful to his delicate lungs. The smartest thing you can do for your new Pug is to wait until after your party.
Have Fun and Be Safe!

Actually, no -- it's not a stupid question (and trust me there are some doozies on here ! ! ! ) It's a great question !
You're right -- you should wait and pick up your pug puppy after the party. Good thinking :)
Enjoy your pup (and please spay or neuter before he or she is 6 months old)
ADD:
Cindy is right -- smoking around a dog (especially a smooshed face breed like a pug) is just as bad as smoking around a baby. If you smoke, maybe you can give yourself (and your new pug puppy) another birthday present by quitting? =D

Of course it's not a stupid question, it's a great question, and I'm glad you thought to ask it! In fact, I'll give it a star so lots of people see it!
Yes, please wait till after the party to pick up your new puppy. And keep in mind that this is just the first of many times that you'll have to make compromises between what's best for your social life and what's best for your dog. Good Luck and enjoy your new puppy!

I'd wait til Sunday.
Your little puppy is going to be scared and will need time to get used to you and it's new home. You won't be able to give it all of your attention if you're having a party, plus the loud noise and lots of people there may scare it,as it's only a baby.
So yes,i'd wait.
Have a good party and have fun with your new puppy x

I am delighted at the 100% positive response YA folks provided your good question.
The puppy should be brought home to a quiet environment not only for the puppy's acclamation but to assist in the bonding process the pup will make with you and you to him.
:-) Congrats! Pugs are great family members.

When you bring home a puppy in the best of circumstances they are normally quite afraid. You want to create a calm, safe environment for them upon their arrival. I woud definitely wait to pick up the puppy. When I first brought my puppy home (a border collie, terrier cross) he was scared. He was playful for a few hours but then got scared and cried quite a bit. I had to spend the night in the kitchen with him, constantly petting him and paying attention to him because he was nervous. You're putting a vulnerable animal into an unknown environment with unknown people, and that's without having 20 extra bodies around the place.

No, Its a good Question.
I would wait til Sunday, then the puppy can have all your attention and not the scare of all the noise and smoke would not be good for the first day at a new home.

Moving into a new home is stressful enough for a puppy without being exposed to that many new people, smells, and sounds. It would probably be best to just wait until Sunday.
