First of all: You can't get lessons on the internet. It just doesn't work. You need a teacher who can observe your technique and correct you as necessary. Still, I can give you some things to start.

Practice every day. It is better to warm up for 15 minutes, three different times during the day, than to spend 30 minutes straining to reach notes. That way each warm up almost acts as a new day's warm up. So you get three days of work in one day.

Don't strain your voice. The first thing that people do when they want to sing is force themselves to sing notes that they really can't reach (both high and low). Find the middle of your range and start from there.

Try singing a few notes at a piano. If you have piano skills, great. If not grab a friend who does. Play a single note and then try matching your voice. Listen carefully to what you are singing vs. what is being played. Try this on different vowels: e eh ah Listen CAREFULLY. Even better, have someone else listen to make sure you are singing the right pitch.

Next, warm up slowly. Don't start very high. In fact, it might actually be better to go down first. Start on middle C doing a five note scale (C => G and then back down) and then go down to B, B-flat, A, you get the idea. Try to connect your pitches through air. You don't want to swoop, instead try to keep a very steady flow of air coming out of your mouth. For example: If you take a big breath and then exhale you will notice that it is very smooth, the air is steady, it doesn't sound like a scratched CD. Apply this to your exercises.

Now you can go up. Keep in mind the same things: don't swoop, steady air, don't strain. As you repeat this throughout the day you will notice that your voice will get stronger, as will your range.

You can also try some other exercises:
note: (do) = high do

do mi sol mi do
do mi sol (do) sol mi do
do sol do
do (do) do
do (low-sol) do

Now apply the skills you have learned in these exercises to the songs you are singing. When you finally get the chance to take private lessons, go for it. If you don't already know who you want to study with then go to your local music store and ask. They usually have a record of all of the private teachers in the area. Be prepared to call multiple people because by this time of year many teachers have all of the students they can handle.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Okay first of all, are you trying to sing high notes when u know u can't go too high or try to sing really low and u know u cant? That's what happen to me. I started singing at 6 and all those years I keep telling people that I can't sing because I always tried to sing like Dolly Parton or Teresa Teng when I know I can't hit those high notes so my voice cracks. I am now 19 but I realize when I turn 16 that I am a tenor and bass singer and yes I am woman! I tried to sing Elvis songs or Karen Carpenter which she was a alto but I sing perfect when I singing their songs! It's because I sing with a lower voice!! Try to sing in your comfort zone

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/WmU1E

the minimal tips that i can give you online are these :
1) be sure you have on open mouth, when your mouth is open your tone becomes more round and gains good quality.
2) round out your vowels, it goes along with opening your mouth, and its a bit like singing with an english accent.
3) SUPPORT. my vocal teacher yells at me for this all the time. push air from your stomache instead of your throat and yopu will gain a wider range of notes, and it will have a fuller tone. you can practice this by blowing out a candle from far away distances.
4) posture has a lot to do with it to, if you're slumped over you will not get the full amount of air that you can with a good posture, so be sure to sit up.
5) confidance. with sentances like "i cant sing good" it shows that you lack self confidance in your singing voice. if you tell your self that you cant hit a note, you wont.
i have major problems with singing self assurance, and i have to make my self believe that im hitting a lower note than i actually am so that im able to hit the really high things.
6) if your having problems with being under pitch, think about hitting a higher note. aim for that note with your stomache but use your ear to get the note that you want.

hope that helps some!

Oh, for God's sake -- who are these people who answered before me? Touch your head? Singing and speaking voices resonating in different areas? Voice lessons online?

Oy vey!

[Rachel's advice, however, was good, though I think her solfeggio info -- do re mi -- may confuse you.]

It's going to be hard for you to make much progress without a proper teacher or coach guiding you. You could find some rudimentary information online, but that will only go so far -- there obviously is no way anyone can evaluate whether you're doing things correctly.

If you can't start taking lessons for a few months, then you're just going to have to be patient until then. But since you love to sing, keep doing it. Do some deep-breathing exercises -- inhale so that your stomach sticks out first, followed by your ribcage, then use your chest muscles to hold the ribcage there while you exhale and inhale. Your chest should then remain in that same position while you breathe in and out. You'll feel yourself using muscles you never knew were there.

the singing voice resonates from the air in your head (not making fun). the speaking voice is in the throat. what does ths mean? it means you match a pitch on the piano sing it loudly. you should touch your head while you sing, if you feel it vibrate, you are 1% of the way there...
