The best answer shoul be chosen by the one who asks the question. How will they know if an answer fulfills all the voids that you needed to know about.
Also leaving comments helps

I HATE when people ask questions that they say are "important" or "serious", or say "I need help" then they don't award a Best Answer. You want people to give you advice, then let everyone who was kind enough to help you know whose advice helped you out the most.
When it goes to voting, a lot of times people just click on the first answer and don't read all of them because they are obsessed with points and want to do as many as possible (even though it's only 1 point every time).
Also, awarding a BA doesn't take any more points away from you, so take the extra 10 seconds to do it.
I also hate people who state "10 pts for the Best Answer" in their questions. Every question asked will receive a Best Answer winner who gets 10 pts. It's like they are saying, I WILL award a BA for my question, and don't realize that even if they don't, it will be passed onto voters who will pick a BA anyways.
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Sorry, had to vent a little about people.

What does this have to do with singles and dating?
If you feel like one of the answers deserves "Best Answer" then you should be the one to pick it because it shows the answer, answered your question and had relevance. But if none of the answers stick out for you, and you'd like others' to vote based on their opinions, then that's when it's okay to let it go to a vote. I like when the person that asks the question decides the best answer, it shows that they're not just asking random questions and genuinely care about the responses they get.

It is much more considerate for the asker to choose the best answer, because that gives better feedback to the person who actually gave the best answer from the asker's point of view. Of course, if none of the given answers is really that good, then just leave it up to the "Voters" (whoever they are) to choose.
