I have a sharp pain on my right lower abdomen..It kinda feels like cramping but really bad. It isnt constant, but every few hours for about half an hour. Then it moves to the back. Then during sex i get a sharp pain above my hip bone, about belly button high on the right. I have been feeling dizzy and really tired lately. I went to the doctor and she said she didnt think it was my appendix and all the other organs felt right, Then said she didnt know what it was and just to wait to see if i start my period cause i might just be ovulating..then go back. What could be the different causes of this??

There is no pain at all when you press on the area, and it has been going on for a while. It started right after i got off my period and im going to start again, so i dont think it is my period.

It could be an ovarian cyst.....when you ovulate, your ovary produces a little cyst that the egg pops out of...then it goes away. On some people, the little cyst doesn't go away and it becomes painful. Your body starts to produce the cyst before you ovulate...which could be the cause for the pain just after your period. If you remain without a fever, nausea, vomiting or severe pain, follow your doctor's advice and wait until after your next period. Take Tylenol or Ibuprophen as directed for the discomfort. Avoid things with Aspirin (BC powder, Excedrin, etc.) since they can cause excessive bleeding and make it more difficult for the cyst to resolve itself. Good luck and feel better soon!

I have had this problem too. I had 3 children before it happened. It could be several things. My Dr. checked me out for this same thing and I ended up having an infection in my uterus. No cysts. I took an antibiotic and it helped. But every month I will still get some degree of pain there. I am having it on and off now, but there is a chance I could be preggers due to some signs. If it doesn't get any better go back to the Dr.

infection
pelvic abcess
ovarian cyst
uterine fibroids
do you have an IUD
i would have thought the doc did blood work or a sonogram
you might want to check with a gyn or get another doctor
but if you get this pain every few hours there is something strange in a doctor who tells you to wait until your next period
