What is of more concern to you personaly?

Where we(humanity) came from, or where we are going.

Please expand, because I have left this very open to interpretation.

Where we're going is much more important to me, because it's something I can play an active part in. Yes, interestingly open question; I'm choosing to look at it in terms of human development and whether we nuke or roast ourselves and the planet, or get over our own egos and work towards a positive future for the Earth. Human beings are nothing if not full of potential, and I'd like to think we have the capacity to make a positive difference to each other and our home planet - and others in due course. Ultimately, that's much more important to me than where we came from, though I have my own thoughts about that too (primordial slime figures heavily here). Can't change where I came from. But the future is there for the shaping.

Not really that important, but interesting. The great questions: where are we from, where are we going and why do we spend so much of the intervening time queueing up are all worth a look.

As I understand it, the Sun will one day become a Red Giant and swallow the Earth completely, by which time everything alive will be dead. A gloomy outlook even though it's not projected to happen for another 3 to 4 billion years.

Where we are from is anybody's guess - down to what you believe in really; science, religion or a bit of both.

I wish to echo the point about identity.

How we see ourselves will determine (or influence) the way we act.

Personally I believe in abiogenesis, and evolution thereafter. I don't eat the Messiah, and I don't pray to statues, and I don't blow myself up in a jihad. Therefore, I also feel that the question, and answer, are important.

I'm a plain, loving guy who can see our humble yet amazing origins through the imperfect lens of scientific speculation and theory, and I can see that smallness and also grandeur in all human beings.

I am an atheist who wholly believes in the origin of species on this planet. There is just too much evidence to deny it.

What is most concern to me is where we are going. We are destroying our planet at an alarming rate. Christians and other religions don't seem to care because 'God(s) gave us this planet to do with as we see fit.' I really don't understand this mentality. If you believe in a creator, why not take care of his creation?

Pretty low on the totem pole.
The fact is we DON'T know. Will we one day? Possibly. But why drive me self crazy wondering in the mean time? I'm not a scientist. I have my own personal theories but they have no grounding but my own personal beliefs. The difference is that I am aware that they are my opinion and not "truth".

not very.

but it is symbolic of a more important issue, of breaking free from dogma and mind control and standing on your own two feet.

any divine being worth honoring appreciates our minds; it is only contol-oriented people that try to stiffle us.

Important for my kid and her kids in the future, as neither of us want myths and legends taught in science class.
