People use scientific evidence all the time to try to prove God's existence. But they ones who are actually dedicated to that field of study are often, not always, nonbelievers. Why is that?

Because they're intelligent and their job is to look in to the facts of the universe, not its superstitions.

Your right, the vast majority of scientists are non believers, yet there are many dedicated Christians in every field including scientific ones.

There is tremendous peer pressure in the scientific community against anything spiritual or religious - they will literally witch-hunt anyone without a purely naturalist worldview. I beieve they feel threatened. If God does exsit, we really don't have to look to them for the answers of life and they become much less importaint. Also, science has convienently given people a way out of any kind of moral accountablilty. If we are all just animals, then there is no right and wrong, ect. ect.

But some scientists (like Michael Behe) have dared to make the observation that life is so complex, that the possibilty of life arising by chance is mathematically impossible - hence the Intellegent Design debate.

Let's just say no one can prove anything and both sides can be neither 100 percent right nor wrong. I personally believe in God because if I'm wrong then nothing really happens, if they're wrong they have to spend their down time in hell. Sorry to sound like a dick, but to me it sounds a lot smarter to have a back-up plan for the afterlife.

unless you went interviewed all the scientists then you can not really say what each believes or lacks in belief.

I know 2 scientist that are catholic.....any intelligent scientist will tell that science is not the essence of believing in religion nor proving gods existence, that comes from your heart. And no there are no scientists specifically hired to prove that there is no GOD.

Oh, this is simple. It's because a godless solution fits in perfectly with modern-day science, so naturally that is what atheists (for example) gravitate towards.

When someone doesn't believe in God, they still have an inbuilt (by God) yearning for the truth, so, oddly enough, they seek truth through science by, in effect, attempting to prove the contrary to religion.

They may not consciously do this, but that is what it amounts to. "Big Bang" theory and evolution theory, are theories that seek to attempt to prove that the the events in the Bible are untrue.

They do not have the answers as to the origins of the universe, this they must readily admit. On the other hand, creationists believe through Faith and reason (use of the intellect i.e Aquinas) that God exists.

Cheers.

Edit. It was pointed out on here recently, by an atheist, (bragging) that 93% of The National Academy Of Science were either atheist or agnostic.

Science usually has an alternative answer that is more reasonable than a Christians' and sometimes there's proof/evidence to back it up.
Whereas, Christianity relies on faith instead oof research to questions they can't answer.
Archeology started out to prove Bible stories but it ended up doing the opposite. I think astrologers from centuries ago, started out studying the stars to see if/what else God was saying, or signing, but it made them see things differently (think Copernicus, Galileo).

Because they follow the scientific method. You cant hold something to be true unless you can prove it. Not only is there no proof of God, but ample evidence against God.
I would like to see this scientific evidence that you speak of that has supposedly been used to try and prove God's existence!

lol at coffee_pot12 - you optimistic Christian you!

Because they think with their own intelligence, which is limited to only what they can prove physically. God doesn't fit into that. Their are lots of Christian scientists though. It is all a matter of perspective, they see what they want to see even in the face of what is obvious to a christian when they look at science, they see only facts we as Christians see the truth behind the fact. I recently tried to read The Atheist Debaters Handbook, I say tried because I got a headache trying to do it. It is a small book but the guy talked in circles and tried to sound intelligent, well I couldn't take it. He did not know at all what he was talking about, it drove me nuts. People can't explain something they can't see or are even willing to see, let alone understand it.

many scientists are not atheists
but for your question- because scientists have to live their philosophy based on fact-if they have no faith-and begin to wonder where it all comes from or what does it mean? it would cause their house of facts and "knowledge" to come falling down -athiests scientists often pride themselves on being smarter than everyone else who belives in God and the mass hallucination --here is the hilarious part of their own beliefs--as scientists they know that simply not being able to see something does not mean it doesn't exist (use of microscopes prove this) so just because they can't see God or prove He exists-doesn't mean that he does not exist/ this should give them a pause to consider that factoid.

Maybe that tells you a little something about the science that being useds to try to prove God's existance. Perhaps this information is not the most reliable. I just figure when you can see all the facts it gets harder and harder to believe. Plus, scientists have different minds they believe what they see or can figure out. God's too abstract.

People use scientific evidence all the time to try to prove God's existence??? This sentence is an oxymoron. If you believe things that are inaccurate, no amount of logic will teach you anything.
