Is the temperature safe for the dog? As long as the dog is in a safe environment, I have no issue with it.
Please realize there are a LOT of people who crate their dogs when they are at work. Being in a truck probably gives the dog more room.... as well as a chance to go for a quick walk a few times a day.. whereas being stuck in a crate at home would have him stuck for the 7 plus hours.
Personally, I see this as a better option than the dogs who are permanently kenneled or chained outdoors 24 hours a day and only see people when its time for food or water.

If the dog is in a safe environment and not subjected to extremes of heat and cold and protected from the elements, then I'd think it is about the same as crating the dog at home for the day. Better, in fact, since she is walking him a couple of times during the day and he would have more room in the truck than in a crate.

Your co-worker is probably taking better care of her dog than some of these people who post, their dogs are crated 8/10 hours a day, without a potty break, or locked up in a room for 10 hours. If the truck is well ventilated, the owner is checking on him and taking him for walks, he has water, then he's fine. A small space doesn't necessarily mean cruelty, my dogs voluntarily hop in their crates when I tell them "goodbye", I give them a treat, leave the gates open and they settle down on their pillows and blankets. If you're really concerned walk out with her, tell her you'd like to see her dog, and check for yourself to make sure the dog isn't cooking in the heat without water or proper ventilation. Good luck

Where is the car parked, outside or in a covered garage.? Does she leave food and water for the dog? If outside with no food or water, then you have a case for animal abuse!
If the car is not exposed to direct sun light and there is water and food for the dog to use, then there still maybe a legal problem, but not an abuse!

In my state it's against the law to leave your pet in the car. I'm not sure about the laws in other states or countries. What I would do if I were you is find out what the laws are, and get all your facts together about what could happen to the dog in the car. Once you have all the information you need, talk to this person and let her know what the consequences of her actions would be. If it's against the law, let her know that if she doesn't stop doing it, you will have to turn her in. If not, please urge her to be more humane. If there's a particular reason she's doing this, try and help her come up with an alternative solution.

Considering that the heat level can rise quickly in a closed vehicle, I'd say that what she's doing is definitely NOT good, and may border on abuse. Just take a look at all of the cases you see on the news of children dying from being left in a vehicle too long.
Someone mentioned that what she's doing is similar to crating. I disagree. When you crate your dog at home, it is in a temperature controlled environment. A vehicle is not.

This seems like animal cruelty. The dog should have enough room to move around freely, not cooped up in a truck. ALso what happens when it needs to pee or worse???? I wouldnt like to be a passenger in that car.

That is illegal in almost every state! Call the police! Poor dog! Would you leave your child in a car?
I can't believe all of the thumbs down for people who care about the welfare of the dog and are just stating facts! You people who think that it is okay should be confined to a small space and only let out once or twice! Did you people forget that it is summer?
WOW!

As long as she has the windows down and the dog isn't baking in there... it sounds fine.
It's a lot like when you leave a dog in a crate all day.

She should be reported because it's a form of animal abuse. It's not healthy nor is it appropriate. What is the weather like there? It would be best if she could find a doggie daycare or have a friend or family member take care of the dog while she is at work or even a neighbor that is home.
