ok i turned 18 in april of 2007 and a cousin of mine told me i can buy any kind of riffle i can think of but not a pistol is it true i can buy any kind of riffle and do i need a foid card to go hunting

I have included the link for Gun rules in IL. The last FAQ answers one of your questions. 18 to buy a rifle, 21 to buy a handgun. Under 21, your parents must sign for your FOID card. You need the card to own the gun and also a hunting license to go hunting.

I don't know about "riffles" but at 18 you can buy a rifle. 21 for you to buy a hand gun. And any age your parent or legal guardian chooses to be given a firearm as a gift,

federal law you must be 18 for long barrel guns and 21 for pistols and yes to the second
