Many things can distract a person from their prayer life. Life and satan will do all they can to distract God's children and keep them from Him. It takes planning a prayer time and until you get to the point where you know what you will pray a prayer list can help. God gives strength to those who are praying in His will to aid their prayer life.

We have to learn to pray better, more real towards God,
not just a formality or hoping God may hear somehow,
but have a real conversation from our hearts, there is
even a scripture about "making your case" before God
and Psalms has this idea a lot too.

The parable of the persistant widow is a good example
in the Bible.

I have focused on those things, prayed persistently and
have gotten what I really needed from God - the heart
of the matter resolved. Fasting helps as well!
All of this helps you to be much closer to God!

why would you bother? there's scientific evidence that the "power of prayer" is a delusion. as if it isn't self-evident anyway.
