Lazarus was raised from the dead, & God let him live longer, but later on Lazarus died again at a later date, Paridise was in the heart of the earth at one time, & there was a great gulf between hell the place of torment, & Paridise part of hell, When Jesus Died he went into the lower parts of the earth to preach to those souls in prison, or paridise, & when Jesus rose from the dead he brougt with him everyone of those OT saints, & that is why the bible says & the Graves were opened, So now paridise is in the heavens. & the only thing that is in hell is those wicked sinners, But according to Rev. Chapter 20 even those wicked dead at the end of the milliennium will rise again but unto Judgement & damnation & hell will give up the dead also & all wicked & hell & satan will be cast into the lake of fire, & that lake of fire is NOT on this earth, because by this time earth has also been redeemed back to God with no traces of sin.

Before Jesus resurrected, and was able to now take all believers to heaven, they were put into Hades.Hades was split into two areas. Hell and Paradise. Now that Jesus has "Led captivity captive"... up to heaven,Paradise is closed. Hell is still there. That's where the unsaved will be kept until judgment day. Then they will be cast into the Lake of Fire.

Those in Hell are prevented from reaching Heaven and vice versa by a chasm or barrier placed there by God.
