Ok... I'm an atheist... It seems allot of Christians claim that they don't hate, because it is un-Christian and then turn around and say hateful things about people who are different from them. And there are probably going to be allot of "Christians" who will post replies to this question with hateful derogatory terms.

How can you "love your neighbor" and then support killing him?

Why are you taking my question as hostility? It is not hostile... it is a question...

I never said atheists were good and don't hate... they don't claim to... but Christians claim that they do not hate...

Hey dude,

I'm a Christian and I don't hate you. How could I? I don't even know you. Even if I did know you, Christians are commanded to show unconditional love to everyone, including their enemies. And just because you believe something different than I do doesn't even make you my enemy.

Yet, you're absolutely right about certain so called Christians saying despiteful and hateful things to others just because they don't believe the same as they do (but I kind of think you hang out here because you like getting some of them all worked up. it can be entertaining, huh :o).

Anyway, though I believe that there is a God, and though I have come to believe in God through my faith in Jesus, I still leave enough room to say that it is MY faith and very often is not and never will be someone elses faith.

The other thing, I've come to realize is that it is my FAITH. It is something I believe and cannot prove absolutely. Personally, I think that true atheism takes faith as well. You cannot prove that the universe just happened without a Designer just like I cannot prove that it exists because of One. Though, I believe that it is more reasonable to believe that the complexity and design that we see in the universe, and especially on this planet, could not have happened by random chance.

I've had a back injury for the last 3 months that has me pretty incapacitated. I've spent a lot of time watching the History Channel. The shows they have had on there about the Universe are absolutely fascinating. What I'm trying to say is that when it is all said and done, and the debates between believers in God and believers in random chance are over, I think that we are all left standing in awe and wonder at the incredible mystery of the universe and life as we know it.

Today, I'm going to look up at the blue sky, stand in awe and be thankful that I'm alive. My writing in response to your posting is just my way of sharing some of that love and awe I have in my heart.

May you be blessed and have a great day, dear friend.

Sincerely,

Hesed

If I, like Richard Dawkins, wrote a book called the

ATHEIST DELLUSION

How would you feel?!

Here's an Atheist, he's goes into a department store in Late Novemember and finds a line of 6 year old kids waiting to see Santa Claus and pulls off the old guys beard and says THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUSE

They are a hostile, negative entity.

My view of a TRUE Atheist is that would never be caught dead in this place, never say anything to hurt anyone and just keep their views to themselves.

I know where my EVANGELICAL attitudes come from.

Where do ATHEIST evangelical attiudes come from.

I mean WHO TOLD YOU TO GO OUT IN THE WORLD AND TAKE CANDY AWAY FROM BABIES

Is it an automatic thing or is this something Dawkins or some other Atheist author said you are supposed to do in life!

Don't you get it.

You guys do the same things.

So, why are you pointing finger when you love to use terms like Sky Daddy and Imaginary Friend

Don't you realize that's a hurtful attitude.

And it doesn't speak very highly of Atheism.

Is pot calling the kettle black, ABSOLUTELY!

WE don't support killing.
And we don't support "tolerance" how it
is currently being defined these days, since it
is NOT the same thing as love.
Love includes BOTH mercy and conviction.
Love is the greatest command, not tolerance.
There is a battlefront for truth that
may seem negative, but is necessary.
True, some religious Christian folk do
not go about it correctly and can be rude,
so can atheists as well as others!
We are all human beings
and should not generalize, but seek truth.

I think here in answers it's often a matter of strongly disagreeing with what someone said. I don't think if I met someone in person I would be as outspoken as here. And yet I believe it's necessary, or people won't get what you're trying to say. The fact that we are Christians doesn't mean that we don't have opinions.

But I don't hate you, pal! Or anybody on here.

you are right, but these days with the net, people can say they are Christians all they want, doesn't mean they are, they could be the"wolf in sheeps skin" meaning they can really be the opposite of Christians trying to degrade and misprove what a Christian is, giving us a bad rep. I am sorry for any derogatory terms that has been said by "Christians" but I do have to wonder are they really Christians? God Bless♥

What hateful things did the Christians you are referring to say? No Christians should ever support killing someone. It goes without saying that they aren't following Jesus' teachings and example.

Christianity began it´s expansionism by running other peoples and faiths into the ground. This isn´t only true of Christianity of course, you can also look at Islam. Come to think of it the Jew´s didn´t do too badly in the Old Testament.

Human mind deals with dual concepts. Love, in human concept, has no basis without hate, or how could love be known. To preach Love and then project hate only shows that the person has not risen above the human conceptual love, to the experience of LOVE Unconditional.

I love my neighbor. Who are you? You start off telling me you are against what I stand for.
About the only love I can give you is Agape. I will pray for your salvation.
You can't be so outwardly hostile and expect people to say nice things to you. Or do you?

Every Christian falls short of what is expected of them. We are called to love everyone even our enemies and it is not an easy thing to do. I try my best but I fail sometimes. That is why we need a savior.
