I should clarify: my assumption is that *most* atheists were raised religious, so in that case, the question is about your *former* religion

Well, as a non-theistic Pagan (atheist with a religion), there are some real wack-jobs in the new age movement. (And in the reconstructionist movement, but not as many or as noticeable.)

I think the worst was some form of the "Quantum theory of magic." Where everything is connected, and through concentration, symbolism and belief a person can defy the laws of nature and supernaturally achieve some kind of effect. Utter B/S.

I think praying to a specific God because you want a specific thing (I'm a former Hindu) is a pretty absurd idea.

It seems there's a lot of bureaucracy among the Hindu Gods. They all have different jobs and if you ask the wrong one for something it'll never get done.

It's too bad I'm not a former pagan, because "Quantum Magic" (Tawaen's reply) is pretty absurd.

I have found nothing absurd in Christianity, except when someone gets something WAY out of context or makes an application that should not be.

That some people refuse to believe in God. I mean, He's so totally obvious, I can't understand why anyone would refuse to believe.
