You need a Mac. Stop wasting time and money on Windows.

I beleive you need to have a new XP license buddy, i went thru the same thing earlier last week, i bought an HP laptop with vista on it, it was slow as hell, the next thing u know =format +install.
But I encountered a huge problem as all the drivers that i have works only with vista, so make sure u don't fall into the same mistake.
i fixed mine after 3 days of net search.

Yes you do, but you will run into trouble.

Seeing as how Vista is the latest off the market, Windows for some reason does not want you to go back. Vista will not let you install any earlier operating system than itself. Even if you format the drive, the drivers for everything are still going to look for Vista and it will be an extremely royal pain to roll back all of them.

Yes, you do need to buy a new XP. It is costly, and i suggest you do not do this. If your vista is going slow, then you could buy more ram or upgrade your processor( its probably going to be cheaper than XP.) Apparently Microsoft doesn't want people to have xp anymore. If you really want XP you have to pay.

Boot the computer from CD. If you try to load it while in windows it'll give you a message about it being an older version of windows. Instead pop the CD in and boot the computer from it. If you need further instructions, feel free to e-mail.

Yes, and don't expect Microsoft to help you with it.

Note: those of you who want to buy a new computer with XP had better do it quickly, Microsoft has announced their refusal to sell it anymore, the current offer to sell it expires in a few months.
